‘The Alternative Polka.’
Weird Al’s polkas are so incredibly useful.
‘Word Crimes.’
Didn’t load the first time.
The WEIRD Trailer.
If you don’t know who I’m talking about, then… okay, fine, it’s a Weird Al Yankovic biopic starring Daniel Radcliffe, and which looks to be taking numerous but hysterical liberties with the historical record. I mean, seriously. The man is almost embarrassingly clean-cut.
I’m totally going to watch WEIRD, of course. I’m the target demographic! …And some of you folks too, I guess.
“ONE OF US! ONE OF US!”
Well, except for the ridiculous amounts of money and the entire acting thing. But you don’t learn this one by accident. I agree with Weird Al, here: it’s a good sign.
Keywords: Daniel Radcliffe, Biopic, Weird Al Yankovic.
Via @JoePCunningham comes this extremely important news.
“Weird Al” Yankovic— the prolific musician behind humorous songs like “Eat It” and “Amish Paradise”— is getting the biopic treatment with help from Daniel Radcliffe.
Radcliffe will star as the five-time Grammy winner in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The description for the film says it “holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.”
It’s going to be exclusively on… the Roku Channel, which is somehow perfect. And if you’re wondering how they got Daniel Radcliffe, I can only imagine that it’s because he wanted the role. One of the more entertaining things about Radcliffe is how much he enjoys doing whatever movie he damn well feels like doing. Hopefully they get Weird Al Yankovic to dub his songs, though. Or maybe they’ll get Radcliffe to dub one of Al’s. That’d be funny, too.

PS: Of course I’m going to see this. I’d go see it in theaters.
