(Via Hot Air Headlines) House Democrats are not handling their recent spanking well. They’re especially distraught over losing control of the House in such an insanely short time:
“We only had it for four years,” one senior Democrat lamented. “It took so long to get it back, and now it is all gone.”
Well, that’s what happens when politicians run as moderates and rule as liberals, Sparky. This is also what happens when a political party lets itself be run by its liberal fringe on the legislative level and by a feckless dilettante on the executive. And, finally, this is what happens when politicians ignore necessary business in order to pass ideological wish lists – then inform the American people that it’s all for their own good, so don’t worry their pretty little heads over it. And what are the consequences of all of that? The political party guilty of such behaviors gets promptly backhanded by the American people. As we saw.
Learn or don’t learn, as you blessed well please – but do not whine about it. It’s unbecoming.

PS: God, but it is embarrassing to think that I used to be a Democrat. Listen: when the Republican party got shellacked in 2006 I got drunk and maudlin, sure – for one night. And then, as soon as the hangover faded I picked myself off of the ground and waded back in. AND THEN WE GOT SHELLACKED AGAIN IN 2008 – but that time the Republican party didn’t even bother with getting drunk and maudlin before we got back up again and started swinging. We did not whine. We did not pout. Contra our political opponents, we did not even get particularly mad.
We just got even.
Meh. “We” may have gotten even, but the people we elected seem more interested in getting along.
And then think what the 2011 redistricting will do — Losing 700 State legislative seats is likely to put a big crimp in ever getting it back.
The democrats would do themselfs well to ditch, or serverly curtail, there seniority system. While the rank and file ‘rats were not out and out left wing liberals, all their senior leadership was. You can not have a mainstream party when all the leaders, committee chairs and subchairs all come from dark blue districts.
Do bet on the reform.
