#rsrh Thursday’s RNC speeches: Marco Rubio.

Executive summary: A lot of folks went through a lot of stuff in 2010 to get this guy in the Senate.  Last night, he demonstrated why.

…And there’s not much to add to that, except that it actually ends up making sense that Romney went with Ryan instead of Rubio.  Because while Rubio is very able and eloquent… well, putting him the Vice Presidency too soon will deny us a DECADE of useful service from him*. Two terms in the Senate, one as Governor, and then we can let Rubio be President.

Great to have this deep a bench, huh?

Moe Lane

*Paul Ryan is a good pick for 2012: match the problem with the guy who has thought most about the problem, on either side.

  1. Republican Leadership Bench is great. That is the biggest satisfaction I get when I look at the future. 2016 – There will be so many contenders I could happily support. Unlike 2008 and 2012.

PS: One more purge / election like 2010 and we’ll have a perfect party. One can hope. Right?

  2. @Praveen
There is no such thing as a perfect party. Success bakes future failure into the cake, as it were. There are plenty of politicians out there that are principle-less sociopaths that will start climbing the ranks of the GOP where there is no real challengers from other parties if we (the voters) let them.
Any why so pessimistic on ’12, man? One can always hope that Romney wins and almost immediately steps down, letting the consistently conservative enough Ryan run the country for 8 years.

  3. Mr. Lane,

I hate to bother you, but since I don’t know Erick Erickson’s e-mail or any way to contact him…I have to beg you here: PLEASE FIND A WAY TO GET REDSTATE TO SHOW OUR DIARY ENTRIES! (Is the problem fixed yet?) I was able to post several new entries, but I can’t find them anywhere in RedState.

    Spoa
