I discovered something interesting: now that I’ve seen this Honest Trailer for ALADDIN, I genuinely have no interest in seeing the movie at all. Not in the “Well, that was dumb” sense; in the “I feel now that I have actually seen the movie” sense. Although, sure: it looks dumb, too. But that’s never stopped me before!
Gotta agree with the Honest Trailer people, too: The Rise of Jafar would have been a more interesting movie. No, wait, that’s coming out in October.
Disney’s current strategy of producing “live action” remakes of previous movies is purely a gimmick. It’s a gimmick that has made The Mouse a lot of money, so far, so I guess I can’t blame them too much for leaning into it as much as they have.

But I kinda feel like this particular vein is just about mined out. They’ve got 5 of these movies scheduled for 2019, with a bunch more to come.

My own prognostication: most of the movies listed with a “TBA” release date will ultimately be scraped, or perhaps relegated to direct-to-Disney+ (or whatever) release.
