So I’m watching what will probably be the first of many, many, many, many Bob the Builder videos – it’s absolutely fascinating to my son – and I’m wondering: we are aware that this is where the President got that slogan, yes?
Yes, I know that the mythology has it as him getting it from Cesar Chavez. I wonder how many people who believe that happen to have kids.
Crossposted to RedState.
My favorite thing about the slogan was how it completely destroyed his supporters’ claim that:
“He’s treating us like adults”
When you connect the dots from Chavez’ United Farm Workers, you end up at the same place as connecting 0’s dots – Tides Foundation and Soros.
Surprise, surprise.
“Yes we are!!”
I watched many a bob the builder shows with the kids. And considering his speech writer was some 22 year old kid, I have a feeling he watched the same show with his younger siblings, or whatever.
Though if you listen closely, you’ll hear some blue tractor thing saying “Uh, I think so.” after yes we can
If “Yes we can” is reminiscent of the campaign, “Uh, I think so” will define his entire presidency.
I always thought it was just me that thought this. Of course, sharing a delusion does not mean it is any less delusional.
On a light note I believe the source of the recent dilemma of our current leadership’s ability to communicate where they want to lead us may have roots in the supposed PR Wizard and Senior Advisor to the the President, David Axelrod. A little known fact concerning the phrase “Yes WE Can” , the Obama cmpaign mantra, I discovered while playing with my 2 1/2 year old great nephew just yesterday. He kept blurting out “Yes We Can”! and my sister, his Granny, said the phrase was a ‘Bob The Builder’ phrase ( a popular toddler cartoon character ); and part of his often used statements.
So Here we have it , PR Wizard and Senior Advisor to the President gleans his brilliant ideas from popular cartoon shows! How comforting to know that WISDOM prevails in the House!
