Anybody see the Sherlock Holmes flick?

Howard Tayler liked it, Aint It Cool News ditto, Rotten Tomatoes seems to be having a disagreement between fans and film critics.  I’m on the cusp between deciding to see it now and waiting until DVD, and this is one film where I’ll be unhappy about the latter if I like the film; it looks like it’ll be more fun to watch on the big screen.  Anybody go see it yet?

  1. As a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories, I liked it a lot & thought they did much better with the canon than I would have expected. Not perfect by any means, but I am quite willing to see the sequel that they set up.

  2. Saw it on Christmas night. I thought it was great! The London street sets were awesome and R. Downey, Jr. did a super job as Holmes. I read all the stories as a kid and have to say they captured the essence of AC Doyle. Go to a theater with good sound because the dialog is a bit tough due to the (fake) British accents.

  3. The accents were fine. The only one who sounded off is Irene Adler, who’s an American in the short stories.
