I hate political books, but maybe I should read ‘Clinton, Inc.’ ?

I was going to give it a pass, but if the book is hated this much by the Clinton Machine then maybe there’s something to it.

Former Clinton administration press secretary Mike McCurry is quietly waging a campaign to quash coverage on a new tell-all book that exposes Bill and Hillary Clinton’s massive political empire.

McCurry has successfully blockedPolitico media reporter Dylan Byers from writing about the bestselling Clinton, Inc., written byWeekly Standard editor Daniel Halper, according to emails obtained by theWashington Free Beacon.

Hillary Clinton’s people are certainly stereotypical about this sort of thing.

  1. So I wonder, is Politico ever going to try and shed their well-earned reputation as a left-wing partisan rag? They started out reasonably balanced, but didn’t manage to even last through one election cycle.

    1. No. They worked hard to earn it.
      .
But being a left-wing partisan rag doesn’t necessarily make them fans of HC.
She’s not glamorous, she’s not young, her history is one of privilege, she doesn’t lie convincingly, and she can’t make an hour-long speech telling the audience how exceptional they are in a convincing fashion. She just doesn’t push their emotional buttons.
So it’s much harder for them to excuse her corruption and lack of actual accomplishments.

  2. So a partisan campaign blocks an “unbiased, objective” reporter? How does that work exactly?

      1. You start with the reporter and say “Please don’t write that”.

If that doesn’t work, you go to the editor ..

If that doesn’t work, you go to the publisher..

If that doesn’t work, you go to the bankers the publisher borrows money from …

Far too few publishers, these days, are insulated rich weirdos in the classic mold, far too many have back-door handles that can be pushed, as above.

  3. That the Clintons have been involved in lot of shady finances isn’t exactly news.
Nor is their engaging in the politics of personal destruction against anyone who notes the elephant in the room.
But it is quite nice to see this outselling HC’s puff piece by a wide margin.

    1. … two points.
      .
First, *how* many anti-HC books are out there right now? There’s this one, “Clinton, Inc.”, there’s “Blood Feud” …
      .
Second, at what point does this “carpet-bombing” start to resemble herd inoculation? That is, as you pointed out above, there isn’t that much *new* ground here .. so by 2016, when Joey Sixpack and Sheila Micro-Tubetop tune in, this will all be “old news” …
