Book of the Week: Blood Maidens.

I am, admittedly, only one-fifth of the way through Blood Maidens, which is Barbara Hambly’s third book in a series of distinctly unsparkly vampires circa the Edwardian age; but so far it does not disappoint.  I also have the pleasure of knowing that as soon as I done with Book Three that Book Four and Five await, patiently; so thanks, folks.  Bought these with the Amazon referral money, and I appreciate the Christmas present from all y’all.

So, ciao to Those Who Hunt the Night… which is Book One in this series. Traveling with the Dead is Book Two.  You should enjoy them.

  1. I purchased a book for you from your wish list. Don’t know if you’ve received it yet.

      1. Your welcome. It was the first time I bought a digital product for someone through Amazon and wasn’t sure if you got it. Unlike items sent through UPS or Fedex where I get a tracking text when it’s delivered.

  2. Great, another book series to try. Moe, if you are looking for something a wee bit challenging, try John C. Wright’s Count to Eschaton series. Projected 6 books, currently 3 books out. Starts with Count to a Trillion.

Book one covers roughly one hundred years, book 2 and 3 (was one book but got cut into two) covers about nine thousand years. Book 4 covers 90 thousand years. Book 5 will cover about 1 million years and the final books goes all the way to the end of the universe. If you want, I can get the 3 books to you on kindle.

    1. I’ve read the first two of the series. They’re good. I didn’t know the series continued until it popped up here.
Hambly’s Dragonslayer series is good a well.

      1. I’m kind of surprise you stopped at book 2. Book 2 ends on the mother of all cliffhanger (due to the fact it’s one book cut into two). For those of you interested, the books are: Count to a Trillion, The Hermetic Millennia, The Judge of Ages. The fourth book The Architect of Aeons is due in April. Fifth book is Vindication of Man and the final volume is Count to Infinity.

        1. I was talking about Hambly’s vampire series. I stopped there because I hadn’t realized it went any farther.
I’ve been meaning to get to Wright, he’s in my pile.
