Dang. I was hoping that @newegg would be faster…

…at processing my computer order. Turns out that ‘five to seven business days’ to process a construction order pretty much means ‘a week, if you’re lucky.’ I’m not mad, per se, but if I had known to expect the far end of the curve I might have picked a different vendor to begin with, or even bought off-the-shelf. The length of time to put the computer together was what was holding me up with going with Newegg in the first place, but I told myself after the fact that they probably padded the estimate. Ach, well.

On the bright side: if my current computer was still broken I’d be fuming right now.

In other words, you might have preferred someone who lied to you to get your business over someone who told the truth?

Sounds like the decision a lot of people made in November 2012.

    1. I don’t think that they actually lied; I think that there’s some kind of logistical problem. Probably not enough staff; that’s a common problem these days, thanks to GUESS WHAT?

      1. Ooh! Ooh! I know the answer to that one!

But no, I wasn’t accusing NewEgg of lying. I meant that there are other companies out there that will cheerfully lie to your face to get your business, and that too many people would rather be lied to than hear the truth. All too often, that tactic works.

(For example: “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Period.”)
