And this isn’t even the craziest thing Jeremy Corbyn may be doing, too*.

Well then.

“John McDonnell, a hardline left-winger who describes bankers as “jokers” and believes that Britain is a “kleptocracy”, has become the new shadow chancellor in an appointment that is likely to alarm the City and big business.”

I wonder if it’s possible to OD on Maalox? – Because I imagine that Labour leaders are currently far past merely shotgunning the stuff by now. And now, they can’t set up an IV feed. That’d be just silly: the stuff needs to be ingested.

*Reportedly, he’s considering having a Shadow ‘Minister to Jews.’ …Sorry, I got nothing.

  1. And here we find out if a politician can be so far Left that it will actually damage a mainstream party in Europe.

N.B.: If there are any people still holding on to these delusions that Left wing means tolerance and minorities do not get the ‘peasants-versus-Cossacks’ treatment – Get. Out. Now.

The elites are yet to panic. When they do it is best to be in the USA for five years already.

  2. My sympathies to the people of Great Britain, but if you wanted Socialism, have fun being a Third World Country!

And being a “far left” politician is not a disadvantage if
all your opponents are indecisive and weather-vanes.

    1. It’s probably worth noting that Labour does not control the UK government at this time, the Tories do. And moves like this suggest that won’t change any time soon.

      1. Actually neither party controls the government, the civil services does and it is notorious for foot dragging, rule sticking and generally ignoring Ministers, Chancellors and Secretary’s plans. Sir Humphrey was a caricature well drawn from life.
        .
The shadow cabinet is basically the oppo front bench wankering about until the next election. Which of course reminds me of the Full Tucker (definitely NSFW or kiddos)

  3. If only Jim Galloway had won his election, he’d have a spot in Corbyn’s shadow government*

*probably the aforementioned Minister to Jews

Also I don’t have any Sympathy for the nightmare New Labour is going through. The easiest way to prevent someone like Corbyn would’ve been to deselect him from the party rolls when Blair or Brown were still in power. Instead they tolerated his and others hard left anti-west views as long as they were consigned to the backbench. Only now that they’ve moved to the frontbench are they starting to worry.

    1. Played properly, these are the gift that keeps on giving. (these, or the jelly-of-the-month club…)
      .
Take a page from the American Media Leftists and *whenever possible* (even if not germane) ask *anyone* associated with Labour whether they agree with some of the more bat-[guano] crazy stuff Corbyn has espoused..
      .
This can go on for years after Corbyn is safely out to pasture .. “Hey, you were an MP when Corbyn was … what do you think of his ‘special minister to the Jews’ idea?”
      .

  4. With SNP taking away most of Labour’s Scottish votes and the current round of craziness (Major labor unions are going to use the selection of Corbyn as excuse to stage national strikes), in a couple of election cycle, the main opposition party will not be Labour, but UKIP.
