Tweet of the Day, YES YOU MUST GET THIS edition.

Absolutely. I’m ashamed of myself for not doing it already.

But I just CORRECTED that mistake.

  1. Why? You’d need to use a set of pliers or vicegrips for any task requiring torque.

Just get an actual set of Allen wrenches, where the bits fold out from a central body that acts as a handle. It’ll work better. It’ll also cost less.

      1. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the screwdriver handle for allen bits, though your point about torque is very valid. But until torque becomes an issue, the screwdriver handle is a handier way to run the screws in and out.

        1. Oh, my point, duh! Sure use the screwdriver handle, but don’t throw the allen wrenches away….

        2. ‘s IKEA .. the maximum torque before the screw or the strips out or the cam bolt or whatever is pretty close to what you can get with the little allen wrenches..
          .
The point is, if using anything but the IKEA wrench, be careful not to over-torque..

p.s. I’ve had something like that for several years.

          1. I largely want the blessed thing so that I don’t have to contort myself quite so much and risk skinning my knuckles which I have been known to do when fiddling with an allen wrench.

  2. You do know you can get allen wrench bits and screwdriver bits with a lot of socket wrench sets? I have both a socket wrench set of allen wrench bits and the swiss army knife style of allen wrenches and the swiss army knife style of allen wrenches are longer than my stand alone allen wrenches. I’ve had to put a lot of furniture together over the years.
