  1. Theose poor people of Venezuela, having to face “hard socialism” sober. We should start the: Humanitarian Venezuela Beer Run.

    1. Not if they voted themselves into it. If it was imposed at gunpoint, then I could see wanting to help them out. On the third hand, providing them with beer would retard any societal pressure for positive change…

      * Comment offered with tongue firmly in cheek. I really have nothing but sympathy for suffering of the Venezuelan people, but that doesn’t come with any real answers to their problems, so…. my sympathy and a buck fifty will buy you a cup of cheap coffee?

    2. Not if they voted themselves into it. On the other hand, if it was forced on them at gunpoint, I can see hooking them up. ON the third hand, providing them with beer will dull the edge of any anger that might be building towards effecting positive societal change….

Seriously, I have nothing but sympathy for the suffering of the Venezuelan people, where ‘nothing’ includes

      1. any kind of simple solutions to their problems.

*Dadgummit, why can’t we have an edit comment feature for those times when the ‘submit’ button is accidentally clicked?

  2. Even in 1984, all of the 3 superstate understood that they may not have to feed the prole, but they do need to either liquored or drugged the masses up. Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela can’t even fulfill that.
