I’m gonna need to update my trawling links.

The current ones aren’t giving me enough news of the odd, the interesting, and the geeky to suit me. And, by extension, the rest of you.  Maybe more cooking stuff? People like that.

  1. For the nerdy side of food, Alton Brown is always a good resource. Although, online posting seems dialed back while his live show is on Spring Tour.

  2. Are you skimming over Slashdot? (is it still worth skimming over? I gave up years ago..)
    .
Local newspapers? Local news papers for places you don’t live?

  3. Alton Brown is fun to watch. But his recipes are usually more complicated than I want to try. And he occasionally makes choices I really don’t want, like massively thick, Waffle House style pancakes.

Punk domestics is an aggregation site, mostly focused on canning, preserving, sauces, etc. http://www.punkdomestics.com/frontpage/

For “Things I’d Actually Like To Eat For Dinner,” one of my favorites is The Pioneer Woman: http://thepioneerwoman.com/

For geeky stuff, it’s not big and it’s not great, but it’s run by people I know: http://landofnerds.com/

  4. I should have thought of Jas. Townsend & Son. right off the bat, having gone to school with his daughter: https://www.youtube.com/user/jastownsendandson
    .
He is a professional Revolution/Civil War reenactment supplier, and his channel above focuses mainly on 18th century cooking. Not quite SCA, but still up you alley.
