…The Ringworld is unstable,
But to film they still are able;
And that’s good enough for me!
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
On Amazon TV.Now, I admit that I have been sore
About how we haven’t heard more,
But, heck, friends, “you thay that you’re Thor?”
Still at last, to film they’re free.

Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
On Amazon TV.Taylor did the film Rag-nar-ock
and I heard GoT also did rock;
Guess then that lots of [cough] and [cough]
Will be out there for you to see.
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
On Amazon TV.No, I’m not being facetious!
There, “rishathra’s” quite ubiquitous;
(It means “sex outside your species”)
So it’s canon, if you please.
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
On Amazon TV.Though distracting, I’m confessin’
I like Hominid gals, sans dressin’ –
Call it the Human Lesson.
…No, the other one, you see.
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
On Amazon TV.Will I like the show? Here’s hoping.
If I don’t, I’ll end up moping
Until we’re all deloping
From our blown-up Galaxy.
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera
Gimme that old-time space opera

Indeed, a lot of really good stuff – E. E. Smith for another – is out there for the pillaging.

I want to see “Space Viking”.. but that’s just me. 😜

Yes, just saw that. 🙂
… I see nothing in this to apologize for.

(Cheshire grin)
*blink* That rendition of Ringworld has a serious problem with the sunlit sections.
If Amazon was really smart, they’d have a preliminary strategy plotted out for a Known Space Cinematic Universe.

Certainly there’s plenty of stories out there that could be made into movies. I mean, there’s probably enough material just from the Man-Kzin wars books to keep them busy for a good long while.
Eh.
Great stories, but not very visual.
And narration has gone out of fashion, so listening to Louis Wu’s internal monologue providing context is a longshot at best.
It would be a really tough adaptation to do well.

The David Lynch version of Dune is probably the best-case scenario.
And the Paul Verhoeven version of Starship Troopers is more likely.
