You don’t see stuff like “Songs of my People” often enough, in my not particularly humble opinion. I mean, sure, that sprite probably drinks Pabst ironically and has a job crafting artisanal EBay listings, but that’s just a side effect from living in Hoboken. He doesn’t mean anything by it.
Maybe I’m just daft, but what does the Alaska purchase have to do with Hoboken? Or is it that the Sprite is proclaiming his American Credentials and asserting that the Alaska Purchase is important to Americana?
There’s a definite “I’m from Fresno, Ace” tone to the sprite’s response, yeah.
We could do with more grand historical epics. The Ballad of Seward’s Folly sounds like a hoot.
