Rivers of London series picked up by Stolen Picture.

Oh, nice.

I’ve read the first few books in the Rivers of London series: modern urban fantasy police procedural stories, pretty good. In case you can’t figure it out from the picture, Stolen Picture is Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s production company, which is excellent news. Simon Pegg’s a hardcore geek who visibly doesn’t understand why he gets to be in almost all the iconic science fiction stuff these days*, but Simon’s not complaining and he’s certainly smart enough to keep smiling and nodding and cashing those checks.

I look forward to this series with some anticipation.

*Because he’s good at it, of course. But sometimes your greatest critic is the one you see in the mirror every day. …Somebody’s said that before, right? It seems too obvious a saying to be really original. Gimme a break, I’m still running a fever.

  1. Oh. OH. This is …
    .
    .. well, it’s big and ..
    .
..it’s either really good, because we can expect Pegg and Frost would *understand* all the in-jokes Aaronovitch’s “grew up in London but not exactly a local” detective comments on ..
    .
.. or it sadly could go really *really* badly if it turns into a commentary on something political instead of a fun romp with comments on culture.
    .
Given Pegg has, as Moe notes, a good ear, I shall simply try to figure out which deity I don’t believe in is most likely willing to accept my geek’s prayers.

    …please don’t let it suck!
