“There’s Worse Places To Wait Out A War” is straight-up science fiction, in the space operatic tradition. It’s a good question he asks at the end. Why in God’s name would his species want to be at war with them?

Liked this one the first time I read it, liked it more this time as I didn’t have to go look up the mountain range and Cthulu reference.

Perhaps framed as a travelogue… post-war, the alien visits the Andes, Rockies, etc… hates Denver, thinks My Hood Lodge is nice but wet, that sort of thing.
