Two hours later, I’m ready to smash VLC Media Player into little pieces. I get video, audio stutters. This isn’t a “fix this for me” post, by the way: this is a “I wish to strangle a manatee in the nude” post, to quote the classics. Arrgh.

So would you say that you’re having an Immortan Moe moment?
…I’ll see myself out.

Cool. Apparently “I wish to strangle a manatee in the nude” has never existed on the internet before now!
Which, I guess is not that surprising.
What? It’s from Bloom County!

Movie studios keep making their DVDs and Blue-ray Discs weirder and weirder to make them harder to copy onto hard disk. But that also makes it less likely that VLC or any other DVD/BD player software will cope. Have you upgraded to the latest VLC? Or you could rip the disc onto hard disk, watch it, then (of course) delete the files.
I grabbed PotPlayer, which doesn’t have much in the way of bells and whistles but CAN play Blu-Rays clearly and crisply and without much in the way of fuss.
