The new ‘The Tick’ trailer.

Complete with a certain tease at the very, very end.

I think that we’re not going to get American Maid or Die Fledermaus in Part Two of The Tick. Or the more surreal of the Tick’s enemies.  I don’t remember if anything happened to the Moon yet in this series, but if it didn’t, it probably won’t.  All of which is fine, if the second part is as good as the first.

The ‘This Isn’t Getting Any Less Disturbing’ new ‘Krypton’ trailer.

My God. See?  This Krypton trailer is why you shouldn’t let people time travel. You end up doing horrible things to people.

Another ‘Black Panther’ trailer drops.

Excuse me while I be slightly male: there is something incredibly hot about a tall, lithe woman in a red dress who knows how to use a goram quarterstaff. I could watch quarterstaff battles in nightclubs all day. Or at least for the seven minute extended scene that I know is going to show up in the Black Panther movie, and that’s all right with me.

TV Series of the Week: ‘Firefly 15th Year edition.’

Because Firefly Complete Series: 15th Anniversary is pretty. It is so very pretty. And the map of the ‘Verse that’s inside it is of a particular interest to me. I have never been quite convinced that the planetary system would have been stable in the short term, let alone the long.  Not that I said anything, because, you know: Firefly.

This leaked Solo LEGO toy materials reminds us that there’s a Star Wars Solo movie coming up.

Which Disney has been keeping absolutely under wraps up, to this point. Seriously: this Lego stuff is about the only bits we’ve really seen of any of the promo material. Solo is supposed to be coming out in May, and it’s not being hyped at all for a Star Wars movie.  Or even that much, really.  I went and I looked at how they did Rogue One, and trailers were dropping for the movie (which hit the screens in December) in April of that year.  We should have seen the first trailers for this movie in September 2017.

:pause:

Well, folks: if you’re rooting for a Star Wars movie to flat-out bomb, I think that we’ve maybe found our first legitimate candidate for that. Between that silence and the rumors of a troubled productions, it’s very possible that Solo will stink on ice.  And, yes: I got a bad feeling about this…

The somewhat more promising new ‘Winchester’ trailer.

This latest one does not confirm that Winchester is a straight-up ‘evil ghost’ movie, but it’s not a bad bet to make:

Although ‘inspired by actual events,’ my sit-upon. It’s also probably gonna whine about guns, sure. But legend asserts that Sarah Winchester built her crazy-house because of that, so whaddya going to do? …I figure I’ll wait and see how the reviews for it go. If they start whining about how the movie missed a chance To Say Something, that means that it’s probably safe to go watch…

Amazon ends double-paywalled Anime Strike service.

It’s all Amazon Prime now. Come, I will conceal nothing from you: I watch very little anime.  My gaming group will occasionally watch some in lieu of a game if players can’t make a session, which is why I’m getting caught up again on Hayao Miyazaki. But I don’t have time to watch all the good stuff in that genre, either. However, I know that some of my readers would probably like to hear that they can now get Anime Strike’s library free with their Prime membership, so… there you go.

Warner Bros. taps Walter Hamada as new overseer for DCU.

Oh, Warner Bros, why must you taunt me with hope?

As part of a shake-up of its DC film operations, Warner Bros. is promoting Walter Hamada to oversee its comic book movies, Variety has learned. He will serve as president of DC-based film production. In December, the studio decided to replace Jon Berg and Geoff Johns as the heads of the DC movies. Berg became a production partner with Roy Lee, the producer of “The Lego Movie” and “It,” who has a deal on the lot.

The Animaniacs is being revived for Hulu in 2020.

Guess I’m going to get Hulu, then.

Wakko, Yakko, and Dot are coming back to television. On Thursday, Hulu announced they have partnered with Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation to create and premiere a brand-new version of beloved cartoon franchise Animaniacs. New episodes will premiere on Hulu in 2020.

The show follows the zany trio, who have finally found a way to escape from the Warner Bros. water tower after being locked away for a long time, and they will be unleashed to wreak havoc on the city. Fan-favorites Pinky and the Brain will also return to make appearances in each episode.

And that’s pretty much it, huh? Hulu’s already got the complete library of The Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Tiny Toons up as part of the deal.  So, if you’ll excuse me…
