Tweet of the Day, You May Be Surprised At How Well This Works edition.

I was.

Happy Halloween!

It’s gonna be eighty degrees here, which is disappointing, but at least my kids won’t freeze. Eldest will be giving out candy, youngest will be out getting it. I’ll be… probably finishing up stuff and doing the odd bit of spooky-related activity. I should also figure out dinner. Maybe we’ll do takeout…

Light posting this weekend. Doxacon looms.

Not a very productive day.

The youngest isn’t feeling so hot, and the eldest needed costume stuff done. That latter was a bit tricky, to the point where I had to channel my mom there for a while. Still, we were able to work out a costume for him that didn’t require me and my eldest to brave a Spirit Halloween for overpriced flimsy crap made by Chinese slave labor, so: win.

Ah, well. At least I got the poem done.

Well, [NONE of] the stranded astronauts are back safely.

Via Facebook. As you can see, they’re readapting to regular gravity. Which is a problem that we will need to fix in the long term, so at least we’ve gotten some observational data out of the whole sorry mess.

[UPDATE: I am reminded that the stranded astronauts are coming back down next year. This is just regular service on the ISS. We still need to work out a long-term solution, though.]

PS: I love what SpaceX is doing, but the company really needs about three or four competent competitors.

Had a good conversation on social media throttling.

As in, it’s suspected that various social media algorithms are doing them to my posts. Apparently the engagement on my Twitter posts are not at all in line with my follower count. Also, social media engagement apparently has been pretty horrible in general lately.

How we fix this is another discussion entirely. Still, it’s nice to know that it’s not just me. Although ‘nice’ is maybe not the best word…

Doing Field of Screams tonight!

Eldest Son had a great time last year, so we’re going back. We have decided that the ax-throwing and brain-tosses were… unnecessary for the haunted house / trail experience, or perhaps ‘superfluous.’ They certainly make the experience a bit cheaper, not that I begrudge the cash. It’s going to be a beautiful night and it’s a fun thing to do with your kid.
