I was showing to my kids: Santa had just left Hong Kong, which gave me the opportunity to explain why a) Santa couldn’t meet with them personally and b) what China was. Busy day for St. Nick… although from his point of view, of course, it’s a busy night. Hot jets, Santa!

Saint Nick is currently heading for Dijon, France. NORAD has a pretty slick-looking interface this year, too: 3-d display, estimated present delivery, the works.

This has always been one of the military’s better modern Christmas traditions. Plus, of course, keeping track of Santa is always good practice for our military personnel, in case there’s a bean counter or two out there grumbling about things. Because there’s always somebody out there grumbling about things.
