DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS has $185 million dollar opening.

These are good numbers: “Doctor Strange and his questionably effective book of spells has summoned a blockbuster $185 million at North American movie theaters over the weekend, reaffirming the box office dominance of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe after a shakier, pandemic-battered year for the sprawling franchise.” They’re also going to be annoying numbers for some, because there is already a vocal contingent online who are upset in various ways about DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS.

Kevin Feige somehow surprised Sam Raimi wanted to do DOCTOR STRANGE 2.

This is a joke, right?

In a recent interview with Empire, Feige explained how Raimi’s name ended up on the list of directors: “Our executive producer, Eric Carroll, and Richie Palmer were calling around to see who was interested, and Sam’s agent said, ‘What about Sam Raimi?’ We thought, ‘That would be incredible, but there’s no chance of that.’ But he wanted to come in and meet. And in the first meeting, it was amazing to reconnect with him, and see his enthusiasm to jump back into this world.”

*Nothing confirmed, but Sam Raimi is directing DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, and he always puts Bruce in when he can. Also: if so, called it. Although that one wasn’t hard.

Sam Raimi, who helped launch the modern superhero movie with 2002’s “Spider-Man,” is in talks to direct “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” for Marvel Studios, Variety has learned.

Raimi replaces original director Scott Derrickson, who Variety reported on Jan. 9 had officially departed the project due to creative differences. Derrickson will remain as an executive producer. Raimi, meanwhile, will need to get up to speed before the film’s scheduled production start date in May.
