Movie of the Week: Call of Cthulhu.

It being Wednesday, we say goodbye to Coraline as Movie of the Week. A judicious amount of luck, patience, and willingness to give a new Amazon bookseller a shot allowed me to acquire Thomas Harlan’s Land of the Dead at enough of a discount for me to actually afford it, so we’ll celebrate the occasion by declaring The Call of Cthulhu to replace it.

Yeah, Harlan’s writing Mythos books. I’m also starting to suspect that so is Charlie Stross, with his Merchant Princes series.

Book of the week: Unseen Academials (Discworld)

And so, we go from Neil Gaiman’s Coraline to Terry Pratchett’s Unseen Academicals. No, it’s not out yet. But it will be, in about a month – which should be enough lead time for me to be able to splurge on the hardcover.

Movie of the Week: Coraline.

Unsurprising, yes, given how much I enjoyed it. So we say farewell to Logan’s Run and hello to Coraline. I should watch it in 3-D sometime.

Book of the Week: Coraline.

This week, we leave behind The Breath of God and replace it with Coraline – and I suspect that it’ll be Movie of the Week, too. I quite enjoyed it.

Wow. Coraline was really good.

I didn’t have the 3-D glasses, so I watched it in 2-D – and I noticed some slowdowns in it from time to time, which I assume was where the 3-D originally was. Still: Coraline was excellent. Rent it, if you haven’t seen it yet.
