Odd: I fell out of listening to Led Zep as I got older… and now I’m older still, and I’m coming back to them.
Month: May 2010
Movie of the Week: The Musketeer.
Yes, The Musketeer was almost terminally goofy, but I liked it. It was good fodder for the campaign that I was in at the time.
And so, farewell to Con Air… which was also good gaming fodder.
#rsrh Cynthia Yockey is a dear…
…and could use an emergency hand.
Or try this link.
Via Instapundit. Who is all right, himself – though him I’ve never met. But he’s sound on Harry Turtledove and SM Stirling, which is re.ally the important thing
#rsrh I will give Charles Djou money if this happens.
And I’m not a Birther, either.
I’m a Birther critic in good standing but I dig Tom Maguire’s reply to Frank: Djou should authorize Hawaii to release his long-form birth certificate, just to show how quickly and painlessly it can be done. Not in a million years will that happen — there’s no sense in gratuitously antagonizing Obama fans back in his home district, where he’ll have have a tough time getting reelected even under favorable circumstances — but I like the idea of Djou ambushing Frank during some press availability in the Capitol hallway. Just toss him the folder, hold up a finger, and say, “One week.”
I never would have suggested that Djou do this, but if Barney Frank feels the need to spout off it seems a shame to not take advantage of it.
NRLC-PAC endorses Dan Coats (R CAND, IN-SEN).
The endorsement of Dan Coats by NRLC-PAC (no link yet [here you go]) is no less painful for Brad Ellsworth for being completely unsurprising:
As a member of both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, Dan Coats was a leading champion for pro-life policies. Dan Coats was the author of key pro-life amendments, including a law that prevents the government from penalizing medical training programs for refusing to provide training in abortion. In addition, he was part of successful efforts to curb federal funding of abortion and an early supporter of the successful pro-life campaign to ban partial-birth abortion.
His opponent, Brad Ellsworth voted to enact President Obama’s pro-abortion health care legislation – legislation which will provide government funding for health plans that pay for abortion on demand, and also contains multiple provisions that will promote the rationing of lifesaving medical treatments.

Joe Biden Opens His Mouth: Dick Blumenthal edition.
It’s enough to make you wonder whether the White House wants the Democrats to keep Dodd’s seat:
Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday took an unexpected dig at Connecticut Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal (D) for misstating his military service record.
While speaking at a barbecue for wounded soldiers, he commented about veterans coming home from the Vietnam War. Biden, who has a penchant for being loquacious, veered into the Connecticut Senate race.
“I didn’t serve in Vietnam. I don’t want to make a Blumenthal mistake here,” he said according to a pool report.
First off: ‘loquacious’ is not exactly the word that I’d use, as it does not have the same connotations for disaster and embarrassment that, say, ‘going off half-cocked’ does. Second: Dick Blumenthal didn’t ‘misstate:’ he lied. Third: any guesses on Biden’s intent, here? It’s usually safe to assume that he didn’t mean to throw another log on the Blumenthal pyre; but it’s also possible that somebody told him that it was important to push the ‘misstatement’ meme, and this is just Joe Biden’s way of trying to help. EPA’s Lisa Jackson admits responsibility to Gulf…
…by belatedly canceling a Democratic fundraising appearance:
Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lisa Jackson has canceled her appearance at a Democrat fundraiser hours after Politico published a story detailing that engagement.
Jackson was scheduled to appear at a breakfast in Manhattan Thursday to benefit the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. An EPA spokesman noted that the appearance was scheduled before the oil spill occurred.

I have shifted my flag from the battlewagon…
…to the destroyer: we can thus work on purging the virus at something closer to leisure. Assuming that I don’t just use this as an excuse for some major upgrades…
Arrgh. Just watched my computer…
…(not the one used for the audio rig) go down in a flurry of ‘antispyware soft’ malware. Now I can’t even get it to boot up.
Arrgh, arrgh, arrgh.
‘Moonlight Sonata.’
I must admit, I was always fond of Schroeder.
‘Moonlight Sonata,’ Ludwig van Beethoven
Linus too, of course. And Marcie. Yes, yes: nerd-boy was I.
