#rsrh QotD, Andrew Malcolm Cuts A Shrum edition.

Andrew Malcolm’s piece is about Paul Ryan, I swear.  It’s just that there was this fun digression, first:

According to veteran Democratic strategist Bob Shrum, between now and that election day Obama and his skilled team of reputation removers are going to so systematically dismantle Paul Ryan piece by painful piece, such that even his own children will boo him.

[snip]

And Shrum knows well how this works. After all, he’s led or worked on victorious Democrat White House campaigns for President Dick Gephardt, President Ted Kennedy, President Michael Dukakis, President Bob Kerrey, President Al Gore and, most recently, the winning come-from-ahead campaign of President John Kerry. Oh, wait.

‘Raiders Of The Lost Ark’ Getting IMAX Release September 7

‘Raiders Of The Lost Ark’ Getting IMAX Release September 7:

Raiders of the Lost Ark in IMAX should be lots and lots of fun - but I’m mostly testing to see how this entire ‘put stuff you see on Tumblr’ works, and how it’ll eventually look when it gets duplicated on ML.com.  Obviously, I don’t want to use Slashfilm’s content without attribution…

#rsrh I do not worry about an Obama Cleveland scenario…

…that being a “Obama loses in 2012, goes away for four years, and runs again” kind of situation.  And I do not worry about it because of two words: Al. Gore.  To be highly accurate, yet brutally honest, about it… in 2001 Al Gore more or less had a psychotic break in response to the stunning news that the people did not understand that Gore had been designed by his father to lead America to a brave new future.  Not being a clinical psychologist – heck, I had to look up ‘psychosis’ in Wikipedia – I can’t really say that this explains Gore’s steady erosion ever since; but, speaking as a partisan political hack… oh, yeah, the guy totally wigged  out and is in the middle of a death spiral to full-bore madness.

And I think that something similar might happen to Barack Obama, once he loses.  If it does not – and I don’t actually like seeing people go clinically insane – it will probably be mostly due to the anchors of his family, particularly his wife.  But even if Obama does not go Full Metal Gore, he is going to do and say some dumb, yet personally things that will make sure that they do not tap him in 2016. And by 2020 Obama will be stale, stale, stale. Continue reading #rsrh I do not worry about an Obama Cleveland scenario…

#rsrh Under Janet Napolitano, ICE apparently stands for “Involuntary Chippendales’ Exhibition.”

At least, that’s the impression that one gets from this NY Post article:

Agency-wide, the number of “reprisal” claims jumped from 43 in 2009 to 63 in 2010 and then hit 103 in 2011, as reported under the “No Fear Act,” which offers anti-discrimination and whistle-blower protections to federal workers.

The number of sexual-harassment claims jumped from two in 2009 to 10 in 2011, and the number of “nonsexual”-harassment claims rose from 37 in 2009 to 81 in 2011.

#rsrh Wow. I hadn’t realized that George R. R. Martin was a gay-baiter.

Kind of depressing.

I am way too busy these days for long political rants.

But I would be remiss if I do not at least make passing mention of how depressed, disgusted, and, yes, angry I’ve become as I watch the ongoing attempts at voter suppression in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Iowa, and other states where Republicans and their Teabagger[*] allies control key seats of power.

…OK, it’d be kind of depressing if I had ever got around to reading Game of Thrones, which will probably now wait a while longer.  But, hey, I’m sure that he doesn’t want my dirty conservative money anyway, am I right? Or that of Newsbusters (H/T).  Heck, if George R. R. Martin was asked, he’d probably retort that the Right doesn’t read books anyway.

 Look. I don’t care if you’re liberal, but if you don’t want conservatives reacting to the filth you say, don’t say any.  Keep the thought-worms in your head, and don’t let them out to play. Continue reading #rsrh Wow. I hadn’t realized that George R. R. Martin was a gay-baiter.
