I mean, no, in 2011 they had no way of knowing that they really could get Spider-Man for the MCU. For that matter, they weren’t even sure that the MCU would really take off with The Avengers (at the time, the entire concept of the MCU had generated any number of jaundiced reactions). But, you know, just in case: put in that hook. Just in case, man.
Or, of course, it’s a coincidence. But as I recall, the guy who runs the MCU is a Marvel comic book nerd on a level that puts many of us to shame. Is Kevin Feige capable of such a display of persnickety, meta-in-jokes that take years to pay off? …Well, I did say ‘comic book nerd,’ didn’t I? It’s at least plausible, belike.
The YouTuber Mauler praises Avengers: Infinity War (MAJOR SPOILERS!!), while tying it up with the rest of the MCU.
And this is Mother’s Basement arguing Avengers: Infinity War will be taught in film/writing classes for years to come.
Listening to it now, but I wouldn’t be surprised. The entire franchise is its own thing.
Well, JMS set the bar pretty heavily in Babylon 5 with threads paying off years later. But it hadn’t really been done well in cinema yet.
