Margaret Ball’s Flameweaver is very interesting, and an old favorite of mine. It’s a fantasy novel about a young woman (denied control over her magic because of an injury) who must go on a quest to find Items of Power, in order to defend her land against a pitiless foe. Quite potent Items, too, with a fell name: ‘Martini-Henry rifles.’ It’s a real shame it’s not on Kindle yet, but whaddya gonna do?

She’s still writing. She’s gone indie and posts regularly (weekly?) at MadGeniusClub.com. I really enjoy her books.
Flameweaver has a sequel, Changeweaver, which I highly recommend.
