I’m not sure if I’m backing the BLADE RUNNER RPG yet. It looks nice, but I’m not playing the games I have now. On the bright side, at the time of writing the Kickstarter has clocked in at just over 27,400 m$d$ ($1,151 million), so it doesn’t need my money. That’s always a relief.

Seriously, what’s the point?
It’s low-grade cyberpunk with androids. Any game system that’ll let you run a police procedural can handle it with little to no fiddling. (I used GURPS back in the day, but now would likely use Gumshoe.)
So, it’s a worldbook. But the details of the world aren’t fleshed out. At all. The world canon wouldn’t even take a half page.
Add a couple of essays about the underlying theme and prevailing tone, and you’re done.
If you want to be extra, run down the difference between the versions of the movie, and compare:contrast with “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”
Apparently it’s real easy to fund RPG stuff on Kickstarter, particularly 5e stuff (which this isn’t). I was at a Backerkit seminar where they looked at projects and a 5e project came up for review: the presenters were all going “This isn’t a well put-together project that has too-high funding expectations” and the entire RPG section of the audience kept going “It doesn’t matter, it’s gonna fund anyway.” I wish I remembered the name of it, so I could check to see which side was right.
Pretty much. There’s nothing particularly unique about it that can’t be done using plenty of existing systems.
