Merrick Garland nomination still stagnating.

The Washington Free Beacon puts it pretty succinctly: “Merrick Garland is no closer to confirmation as the next Supreme Court justice than he was at the beginning of April despite a sustained campaign by President Obama’s personal advocacy group financed by some of the country’s top Democratic donors.” Basically, if it hasn’t been made clear by now: if there’s going to be any movement on this nomination, it’s not going to come from the Democratic side. Particularly if it comes from Organizing for Action, which is apparently better at organizing than it is at action.

…I had more to add, but: suffice it to say that there is currently one person who I would trust to pick our next Supreme Court Justice, and that person is named ‘Ted Cruz.’ It’s in everybody’s best interest that Cruz be doing that pick. From the Oval Office.

I know that I’m supposed to be infuriated by this ‘Snowden’ trailer…

…but Jesus but it looks bad.

I mean, didn’t anybody tell Joseph Gordon-Levitt that he shouldn’t have made it sound like Snowden had recently had a stroke and didn’t quite make it to the hospital before his Golden Hour was up?

I am forced to admit that it’s entertaining to see… well, no, I’m not really being forced to admit that, am I?

My strategic voting in Maryland.

I used this guide: John Kasich is in second place in Maryland, which clarified matters somewhat. Kasich canceling two public events in Indiana today clarified them still more. Besides, if I’m telling people to suck it up and vote strategically, well, do as I say AND as I do.

Pennsylvania tomorrow is going to be a godawful mess in terms of figuring out who got what in terms of delegates; the majority of delegates are running as technical independents in individual CDs, unbound to any delegate.  A lot of ’em are running on the principle of ‘whoever wins statewide/my district,’ which would be laudable any other election cycle and I’m personally not thrilled that it’s not really laudable now. This is a grim slog that we’re on, and it’s going to go on for the next month.

Anyway, if you’re a PA voter the link will lead you to a breakdown by CD of delegate candidates, and how they plan to vote at the convention. Choose accordingly. And don’t skip the delegate section entirely.  It’s important.
