Hillary Clinton STARTED OFF as the villain. How does she plan to become the hero?

Let us address the central paradox of the Hillary Clinton campaign.  To do that, though, we must first refresh our memories.  Specifically, this ad:

Remember it? It is, of course, an edited version of the iconic Apple 1984 ad which was altered to convert it from revolutionary agitprop praising a multinational corporation to revolutionary agitprop praising an undistinguished machine politician from Chicago. And, to be fair, it was successful agitprop. We will be arguing for decades about just how Hillary Clinton managed to lose that primary fight, but she did – and videos like this probably didn’t hurt. Equals is an adaptation of the 1956 film 1984, which itself was based on George Orwell‘s classic novel about rebellion in a futuristic society.

And it’ll be a romance!  One wonders whether they’ll put back in all the masochism porn.

That ‘1984’ Obama ad was anti-CLINTON, right?

…because let me add my voice to that of Instapundit’s, Riehl World View’s, and Reason’s: this ad from 2008 is fraught with irony in 2010.

Fraught. “Hey! Let’s take the image of someone talking about having a dialogue with the country and calling for the support of the populace AND SMASH HER IN THE FACE WITH A HAMMER! Because that would be different.”

PS: On the bright side, the phrase ‘leader principle’ appears nowhere in this portrayal of American society as a grim, corporatist wasteland requiring violent intervention in order to create a new and superior singular collective identity.
