The ‘Crud, are they taking this series seriously now?’ second ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA trailer.

I don’t know if I want them to take the ANT-MAN AND THE WASP series seriously. The series is at its best when it’s aware of just how goofy the premise is, and somebody gave them money to make it properly anyway. I get that it’s time for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA to join the Kirby Era of the MCU, but still…

Marvel planning two more WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Halloween specials.

Come, I will conceal nothing from you: I like the idea. I enjoyed Marvel’s WEREWOLF BY NIGHT as a mashup of two old-school horror comic traditions, and if they want to do something equally creepy and/or gruesome… sure! That would be swell. They should start by taking a good, long look at EC Comics (while not actually admitting that they’re taking that look, mind you). There’s an aesthetic there that could be profitably developed.

Just… cut down on the CGI, all right? Let’s get some practical effects going, for a change.

The More Promising GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOLUME 3 trailer.

Although as it is, there’s a strong possibility that everybody in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOLUME 3 is gonna die. Then again: how long do these actors and actresses want to commit to eating nothing but steamed chicken, anyway? The MCU Diet must do a number on people.

The GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL trailer.

I’m aware that the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL is pandering to me in multiple ways. Which is as it should be. I deserve to be pandered to. What, you don’t think the same of yourself? I’m sorry to hear that, if that’s the case.

The first ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA trailer.

I keep wanting to write ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA with two Ms. Not that either is actually a word in English. Just a quirk of my brain, I guess.

Not gonna lie: I hope this movie is sillier than it looks. I liked how non-apocalyptic the stakes of the first two movies were. I’m in favor of continuing the trend.

The BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER trailer.

BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER has fighting, Namor, my personal favorite character from the first movie (M’Baku) – and an almost tangible sense of sorrow for the loss of Chadwick Boseman, who was a genuinely good-hearted man and actor who was taken from us too, too soon. Everybody in that film misses him, and I don’t think they’re going to pretend otherwise. I think it was very smart that they didn’t recast the role.

I finished MS. MARVEL.

I liked it. MS. MARVEL is fun, in the same that THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL is fun: the people making it fundamentally like comic books, and not for what can be done with them for [INSERT PET CAUSE HERE]. The main character is endearing and the action is good, while being as nonviolent as you can when people are throwing giant balls of solidified energy around. I assume that all of this ends with Young Avengers, or something, and that’s cool.

All in all, I had a good time. Not my favorite Disney+ series (LOKI was my favorite), but definitely fun.
