Today we got to meet a police captain!  And a couple of hookers!  You don’t have to have hookers in your detective pulp story, but it doesn’t hurt.

PS: I don’t know when the writing schedule will be disrupted by Thanksgiving, but it’s coming.  Particularly because a minor family medical issue requires us to split the party for Thanksgiving itself, with me at home with one of the kids.  But everything will be fine and this is all a self-imposed deadline anyway.

I almost decided to include the several hundred words I put together to actually tie down the plot in today’s total.  But then the exorcism went well.  So I didn’t have to.

Dang thing’s sort of 60% done.  Doesn’t feel like it, but we’re getting there.

Went well today, once I realized that it had been a while since anybody tried to kill our hero.  Resolving that allowed me to bring in all the demonological stuff again, which was nice.  Also to introduce an unpleasant character who will still be useful later.  I might kill him off, though.  Still deciding.

Three and a half hours sleep last night.  It’s a miracle that I can focus.  Chapter 6 is well begun, however.

Danged if I wasn’t pleased to get a mysterious reveal out and on the screen.  Right after I realized what the mysterious reveal had to be.  The ending of this book is gonna be somewhat different than the ending to the short story, let me tell you.  Which is good, not that the original ending was bad; it’s just not what I need here.

A little under daily count, but I’m still a bit ahead of schedule because of earlier days.  And I had run out of bits that had to be put in there.  So there you go.

I… have discovered a stratagem.  A ploy, if you like.  I am plotting out the next bit using a particular suggestion, and the fact that I could speed along and get 2K words pretty quickly and easily suggests that said stratagem might actually work.  We shall see.

Finally powered through to finish Chapter 4. I also managed to shock the elf! The elf is perhaps a little bit more straight-laced than he thought that he was. I was amused by that.
