Steve Cohen is now just trolling us.

Or he’s trying to troll somebody.

Steve Cohen, a Tennessee congressman, called Cyndi Lauper “hot” in a tweet and then abruptly deleted it.

Which, it turns out, was part of his secret plan.

“It was all a ruse,” Cohen tells [Howard Kurtz], an effort to fool the media. “I knew by deleting it they would run it, it would give it news, give it life. That was the hook.”

Although why the heck there’s supposed to be a press release on this is beyond me completely.

So why am I bringing it up? Because it’s about the only time I’ll be able to get away with putting up this song:

She Bop, Cyndi Lauper

It’s usually not on the rotation for any moral reason; it’s not on the rotation because it’s so cheerfully and aesthetically awful.  But it’s apparently also what Steve Cohen is doing right now.

  1. So .. he’s trying to troll .. why? Is he behind in some poll somewhere? Getting in front of other news?
