Patreon Microfiction: Had To Be Asked.

Yeah, ‘Had To Be Asked’ is kind of cold. You gotta look at it from the viewpoint character’s, umm, point of view. He’s got one hell of a utilitarian problem on his appendages, and the fairly screwed-up societal conditions that created said problem aren’t exactly his fault. And, shoot, the human’s likely to get sentenced to death by body-colony anyway; attempted murder of billions of sentients is a really serious crime. Can he really be blamed for being tempted to speed the process along?

  1. Often enough that problems cancel one another out. Y2K might break the computers running the freezer… but it’s January so just move the frozen stuff outside…

    Thing is, it’s the unasked questions that ensure the canceling out doesn’t happen.. so yeah… gotta be asked.
