10 days to go on the “RPGs are Evil – Dark Dungeons: The Movie!” Kickstarter.
If the Kickstarter gets to $18.5K, they add Cthulhu & the Mythos to the movie (which the Jack Chick website itself will tell you is real).
Again: I feel that this is a good Kickstarter to back, and I have done so.
New KSer: Torment: “Tides of Numenera.”
When I saw the “Torment: Tides of Numenera” (Planescape-ish videogame, via Penny Arcade) KickStarter, I found it interesting enough…
…but this is what really sold me on the concept:
“Colin McComb will issue a video apology for the most embarrassing work of his career: 2nd Edition D&Ds Complete Book of Elves.” I checked with my wife – she’s the AD&D DM of the household – and yea, indeed, that work was remarkably bad. Apparently, and according to the book, there was no better way to spend one’s life than to be an elf; failure to be one was a cruel, cruel fate.
(pause)

And Howard Tayler had precisely ZERO idea as to how popular numbered Schlock Mercenary commemorative coins would turn out to be. Better get ’em fast, because he’s already run out of the low-numbered ones (after ten minutes), and the first run of coins will only go up to #999…
I endorse “The Specialists Chapter 1 & 2” Kickstarter.
I read The Specialists regularly: it’s an alt-history WWII superhero comic that doesn’t take the ‘Well, they all canceled each other out’ path that a lot of superhero comics have. The Kickstarter is here…
…and I recommend backing it. I recommend reading the webcomic too, actually.

Since the Hillfolk Kickstarter is now funded at 50K, Robin Laws will presumably be releasing the game system for public use.
Which means that I have a personal side project to work on, now. Heh. I haven’t done amateur gameworld design in years, thanks to various things; this should be interesting.
It would be really, really nice if @RobinDLaws’ Hillfolk Kickstarter hit 50K.

*I read at least two of the webcomics involved, so I figure that I have a 50% chance at the $15 level at getting a print copy of the book from an artist that I know that I like. Plus, these people need to eat and none of them have smashed me in the face with their politics recently.

…from Kickstarters’ point of view: it’s art you can make a buck off of. Which Mr. Kaplan’s project is doing for them, right now. After all, they get a piece of every buck the guy’s raising.
I honestly hope that this doesn’t spoil it for Myq Kaplan: I like a good dose of meta as well as the next pers… wait, no, most people actually aren’t into meta. I like a good dose of meta.

Been thinking about this story – the title (“Bikini-clad Ohio woman is begging for boobs on Akron street corner“) says it all – and it’s interesting to see what the line is. Because panhandling for breast implants (which you apparently need a license for*) is obviously a bit weird. But isn’t this the same principle as Kickstarter? Or, ahem…
