Continue reading Quote of the Day, Netflix Wants Those Eyes On Screens, Man edition. If the movie Rim of the World, which premiered on Netflix this week, looks a little familiar to you, that’s on purpose. It’s the story of four kids, thrown together at summer camp in the middle of an alien invasion, faced with the task of carrying the one object that can defeat the aliens across war-torn Los Angeles. It’s a fun ride through childhood friendship forged amid killer aliens and saving the world. Sound like a 1980s-style adventure, like what Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment used to make? Well, good.

The ‘I Am Mother’ Netflix trailer.
Buddy of mine sent me this the other day. I Am Mother looks interesting:
Mind you, I suspect a twist. Or several. Or that the entire trailer is a lie, which is entirely possible these days. It’s so difficult to maintain tactical surprise in entertainment, these days: the reason why the MCU went to such trouble to do so is because they absolutely had to. Remember Terminator 2? I think it was Honest Trailers who pointed out that the great revelation in that film would have had an impact like a hammer if only they didn’t blurt it out in the trailers.
Anyway, I Am Mother is out June 7th.
The ‘Jinn’ Netflix series teaser trailer.
Come, I will conceal nothing: I clicked on the video, certain that Jinn was just going to be some stupid foreign language drama about the blindingly insightful revelation that it sucks to be an adolescent all over the world.

Disney+ for the cute stuff, Hulu for the edgy stuff. Yeah: Disney now has a majority interest in Hulu. Welcome to the 21st century! Turns megacorps are gonna be a thing, after all.
It’s gonna happen, man. — Sayeth the guy with a blog and no film industry connections. But, seriously, obvious ploy is obvious, no?
What in the world, Carmen Sandiego?
I’m with the AV Club. This is weird.
Netflix to remake… *Harvey*?
Who ordered this?
There have been many attempts in Hollywood to bring the classic Jimmy Stewart dramedy Harvey to the big screen, the latest being about nine years ago with Steven Spielberg (and Tom Hanks’ name being bandied about) under a Fox/DreamWorks machination. Now Netflix is readying to pull the 6 ft. rabbit out of its hat with writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss who are set to adapt a remake of the 1950 film. Fábrica de Cine, which is in business with Netflix’s highly anticipated Martin Scorsese/Robert De Niro mob film The Irishman, is also on board to produce this one.
The new ‘Kingdom’ Korean historical zombie Netflix series trailer.
Looks good.
Also: it’s a series, not a movie. I had not realized that, the last time. A series sounds more interesting in this context anyway.
The ‘Kingdom’ (period Korean zombies) Netflix trailer.
I think that I could be down for Kingdom.

The far too unbattered first look at Henry Cavill’s Geralt.
Far, far too unbattered.

The ‘Outlaw King’ trailer.
I’m surprised I missed this.
Chris Pine! Is! Robert the Bruce! Believe it or not, that stuff in the Outlaw King trailer may not be entirely inaccurate; Scottish history can be, ah, dramatic at times. Although it seems to be stopping before the battle of Bannockburn, for some reason. Guess I’ll find out why when it hits Netflix in November.
