New Hampshire paper slams Jeanne Shaheen for Keystone cowardice.

The  Foster’s Daily Democrat minces no words:

Sen. Shaheen has been tagged by Republicans with the dubious honor of siding with the Obama Administration 98 percent of the time. Even if we grant this is an oversimplification of her voting record, Sen. Shaheen is unquestionably one of the president’s faithful. That being the case, she will have to answer for her de facto boss’ actions (or inactions) during this off-year election cycle.

Those actions include running away from Keystone for political gain.

Bolding mine. Despite the name, the paper is generally considered to be Republican-leaning, or possibly just Republican; it’s certainly not been shy about criticizing the current administration*.  So this is not DOOM by any means for Jeanne Shaheen. But what it is is an indication that the only reason why Barack Obama’s going to get away with a delaying action on Keystone at this point is because he’s not actually running for re-election.  Those members of his party who do have to run in November do not have that luxury.  They will get pressed on the subject. Rep. Ann Kuster (D, New Hampshire-2): hates town halls, likes being rude.

Ooh, I can answer this one!

Since taking office in 2013, Rep. Annie Kuster has yet to hold a legitimate townhall meeting for constituents in New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district, and onlookers are taking notice.

Today Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, a Republican-leaning group, released video footage of trackers merely asking why she’d yet to appear before the people who elected her in such a setting.

The answer is, of course, that Rep. Kuster doesn’t want to explain why she’s so far to the left of her constituents.  Not to mention, she apparently has staffing problems: Continue reading Rep. Ann Kuster (D, New Hampshire-2): hates town halls, likes being rude.

Excuse me, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D), but is that Barack Obama’s dagger in your back?

This was just mean:

Former Bay State U.S. Senator Scott Brown is reacting to President Obama’s comments about his potential Senate run in New Hampshire.

“I’d be happy to – you know, if Scott Brown wants to move down to Texas, you know, then we could always use some moderate Republicans in other parts of the country…”

Or possibly just stupidly incompetent of the President.  Either explanation will do. Continue reading Excuse me, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D), but is that Barack Obama’s dagger in your back?

So, it looks like Scott Brown is going to run for New Hampshire-SEN.

Anybody surprised by this?

Former Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., will launch an exploratory committee to run for Senate against Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in neighboring New Hampshire, CBS News’ John Dickerson and Nancy Cordes have learned, giving the Republican Party hope for a pickup as they push for a Senate majority in November.

Republicans retain possibly bellwether New Hampshire Executive Council seat.

This race didn’t get nearly the same coverage as FL-13, but it’s interesting:

Basically, this particular New Hampshire Executive Council district covers the northern half of the state: the seat became vacant last year when long-time and universally respected Republican Ray Burton died last year of cancer. The race was very low key, and remarkably free of venom*; but the Democrats definitely wanted this seat, and are probably disappointed that they didn’t get it.  Continue reading Republicans retain possibly bellwether New Hampshire Executive Council seat.

…Yeah, Scott Brown is running for Senate in New Hampshire.

I don’t know anything officially, nor have I been told anything in confidence.  But this isn’t my first cotillion, and I know how the dance moves go.  This is a statement made by a guy who is planning to run…

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen’s plan to make Granite Staters pay more to keep their doctors and maintain access to their hospitals is “sad,” former U.S. Senator Scott Brown tells NH Journal exclusively today. Brown is considering a run against Shaheen in 2014.

“Her [Shaheen’s] so called ‘fix,’ shows how out of touch she is with the people of NH and this country,” Brown told NH Journal. “People are already paying a tremendous amount for their plans and her votes have denied them the ability to stick with the doctors, hospitals and plans they love. That is always the answer from the DC crowd, pay more. Sad.”

…and it is a statement made by a guy who wants you to remember why he was elected Senator in Massachusetts in the first place.

Dear me, but this Granite State poll is HORRIBLE for New Hampshire Democrats.

This is not a good polling position for incumbent Congresswomen to be in:

  • In CD-1, Frank Guinta now beats Carol Shea Porter 45-39 (it was 48-32 the other way in October 2013). Dan Innis is still behind by ten, and that’s about the only good news for the Democrats in this poll.
  • In CD-2, Ann Kuster is only beating Gary Lambert 38-34 (a small slip for Lambert from October) and Marilinda Garcia 36-30.

…and you have to wonder how the Democratic Senate and gubernatorial candidates are going to feel about this, too.  Aside from a certain sick feeling in their stomachs, of course.  That’s pretty much a given. I can’t see how Scott Brown stays out of the New Hampshire Senate race.

If he’s being told about polls like this

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) is tied with former Massachusetts Republican Sen. Scott Brown in a new survey of the New Hampshire Senate race — even though Brown hasn’t officially entered the race.

The survey, from bipartisan consulting firm Purple Strategies and first reported in The Boston Globe, gives both Shaheen and Brown 44 percent support among likely New Hampshire voters.

…the temptation must be strong.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D, New Hampshire) trying to find a poll-tested excuse for #obamacare.

This… does not sound like Senator Jeanne Shaheen is unconcerned about her re-election prospects in New Hampshire.

Maureen Mooney told the Granite Status the Affordable Care Act was “by far the dominant issue” in what she said was a 19-minute the survey.

Mooney said she was asked to assess on a scale of zero to 100 not only Shaheen, but also Brown, Rubens, Sen. Kelly Ayotte and Gov. Maggie Hassan.

She said she was asked twice to assess Shaheen and Brown, and was asked to assess Shaheen after being told that the senator supported the Affordable Care Act “because of ‘X, Y and Z.’”

Meet David Campbell, New Hampshire state Democrat: “The ducks should have moved.”

Yeah, it’s about what you think.

[Retired USMVC officer James] Murphy said he had just tossed the ducks some crackers when he spotted Campbell’s dark sedan approaching from a side parking lot near the hotel entrance.

“All of a sudden, this 5 Series BMW comes up, it’s going about 15 miles an hour, and then when he gets to the ducks, it’s not like it even slowed down,” Murphy said.

“It just crushed all of the ducks.” Continue reading Meet David Campbell, New Hampshire state Democrat: “The ducks should have moved.”
