Sometimes the books I buy are for work. From Spark to Finish: Running Your Kickstarter Campaign (by M.C.A. Hogarth) is one of those times. My next Kickstarter is going to need to make more money than usual; not more money than I’ve hit in the past, but enough that I need to do some research. Yay!

ONE SHOE TALE by Jeremy Green is sort of alternate history, sort of a fractured fairy tale, and sort of noir. So, basically, something that I’d likely read. It’s entertaining, if not especially weighty. Check it out.
It has yet to go science-fiction and/or supernaturally horrific, but Peter Nealen’s Silver or Lead: A Pallas Group Solutions Thriller (Brave New Disorder Book 3) is still part of a very good thriller series. I have decided to forgive it for not being more fantastical. Nobody’s perfect.

Honestly, this shouldn’t have been a surprise. I’ve been waiting for Genevieve’s book for forever. SCARLET was also a lot of fun and a nuanced read; I’m a bit less, ah, sanguine about the virtues of the French Revolution than some, but she handled the balancing act nicely.

What can I say? I’ve been re-reading CTHULHU 2000 this week. There’s some excellent stories from excellent writers in this anthology; I particularly recommend Kim Newman’s “The Big Fish,” which works on several different levels, including ‘hard-boiled detective.’ Check it out!
