Patreon Microfiction: ‘Musings of the King.’
I know full well that there’s a bigger story in ‘Musings of the King.’ I’m trying to write it. It’s just been a weird month.

Patreon Microfiction: Doing Good By Doing Bad.
The thing about Lawful Evil, as “Doing Good By Doing Bad” suggests, is that they don’t have to be invested in Evil for Evil’s sake. Or at least they can get their charge by watching Good squirm over having to sign. Or when they have to be polite, afterward, when the mutually-beneficial business is concluded to everyone’s specifications. It’s a rarified villainy, to be sure — but after a while, one’s evil palate grows more sophisticated.
Patreon Microfiction: Bric-a-Brac.
Transhumanist fiction always talks about Transcendence and Directed Hyper-Evolution. It never talks about what happens next. Which, in this case, apparently involves being bric-a-brac on some unevolved human being’s desk.

Patreon Microfiction: From “The Coming of the Great Wyrm of Philadelphia.”
I didn’t even try to keep it at 100 words for From ““The Coming of the Great Wyrm of Philadelphia.” Sometimes you don’t constrain the Muse. Besides, the real trick was in not writing out the whole thing, because then I’d have to actually make it fit the old verse forms*.

Patreon Microfiction: Besides, All My Stuff Is Here.
“Besides, All My Stuff Is Here” highlights a continuing issue I can have with fantasy. ‘Evil for evil’s sake’ is found more often in fiction than real life. I mean, why should the Supreme Dread Lord be invested in the Biggest Bad’s success? He’d probably be next on the list! So if he can stay off of the Good Guys’ list, why not act out of intelligent self-interest?
