Fascinating. I usually encounter Critical Drinker when he is telling me things I need to hear, but don’t want to. But DUNE Part 2? This movie, he liked.

I’m not gonna lie: I take Critical Drinker’s takes on film fairly seriously. He’s pretty indifferent, and sometimes brutal, about how politely he expresses his opinions. So if he says that everything he’s heard about BATGIRL suggests that the movie wasn’t that awful, I will take that seriously. Not blindly, since the people he talked to are likely biased towards the film. But definitely seriously.

There’s brutal, there’s really brutal, and then there’s The Critical Drinker’s “Indiana Jones – Destined to Flop.”
I think he’s right, and I also think it’s a shame. I like these stupid, bloated, convoluted superhero flicks. I like sitting in a theater and watching them play out on the screen for a few hours, turning off my brain and just enjoying the spectacle. Alas, I’m often doing that in a half-empty theater these days, which is symptomatic of the larger problem, really.
Oh, well. Movies will reinvent themselves, at some point. They always do.
