RS Interview: Jeff Landry (R, R-CAND, LA-03).

This one is a little late, thanks to various annoying, yet dull, technical difficulties. The race in question is Louisiana’s Third District: the loss of a House seat in redistricting has caused two incumbent Republican Congressmen to face each other in this November’s… “Election Day primary” is probably the best way to describe it: everybody runs at once, and if no candidate gets above 50% then the top two candidates go to a runoff.  One of those candidates is Rep. Jeff Landry.  We talked for a bit about the race:

Jeff’s site is here.

#rsrh Fox is NOT claiming that Fast & Furious guns were found at today’s border shootout.

I know that a quick reading of the story might suggest it – short version; one Border Agent was killed and another wounded at a shootout this morning at the Brian Terry Station* in Arizona – but when Fox is referring to Fast & Furious guns found on the scene the network is referring to the 2010 Terry shooting.  It’s a breaking story; presumably they’ll clean it up a little in a little while.

More info here and here.  Prayers and good wishes to the families of the victims.

PS: Fire Eric Holder.

*Named after US Border Agent Brian Terry, who was killed in a shootout with drug gangs in 2010.  Guns on the scene were traced to the government’s infamous Fast & Furious program, which was a program that disastrously allowed guns to be illegally resold to drug cartels and other violent criminals all over the American super-continent.  The Obama administration has thus far refused to hold anyone in its administration accountable for our responsibility in the murder of hundreds of people.

#rsrh This would be where Elizabeth Warren (D CAND, MA-SEN) [expletive deleted] the bed…

in tonight’s debate:

DAVID GREGORY: Can you name Republicans in the Senate today that you are able to work with on big issues, substantive issues that the country faces?

ELIZABETH WARREN: Probably Richard Lugar would be one that comes to mind.

GREGORY: Not going to be there.

WARREN: He’s not going to be there.

Then again, at this rate? Neither will Elizabeth Warren.

PS: Scott Brown for MA-SEN.

#rsrh He’s Barack Obama, and he approves that crass exploitation.

Disgusting.

In its latest effort to slap Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” comment, the Obama campaign on Monday tapped a young woman with Down syndrome to pull at the heartstrings of undecided voters.

The Obama-Biden campaign’s web page featured a “letter of the week” from a 25-year-old woman who wrote that “I am one of the 47% of Americans who fall under Mitt Romney’s definition of ‘entitled’ and ‘unable to take responsibility for my life.’ I have Down syndrome.”

I know that Barack Obama wishes to be President for four more years, but exploiting special needs individuals is no way to do that.

…I like Penny Arcade’s CheckPoint.

After that incredibly, tooth-jarringly aggrivating last post, I figure that I should mention that.  CheckPoint delivers quick video bites of commentary of computer gaming news; it’s fun-snarky without being nasty about it.  I reliably laugh, even though I know only about 1/3rd of the companies that they’re mentioning in any given episode.  Check them out.

A look at the horrific, graphic Univision Fast & Furious excerpt.

The below is not the entire Univision Operation Fast & Furious expose: it’s merely about ten minutes of it.  Ten very graphic, very infuriating, and very embarrassing ten minutes of it.  Don’t watch it if you have a physical/mental problem with seeing people being murdered on-screen, and for real:

(see also this ABC article)

It’s a useful primer for what happened: which is to say, Mexican drug cartels decided to buy guns from US shops and the US government (ATF Special Agent William Newell* is mentioned by name, but he’s not the only one caught up in this mess) decided to not only let them; they decided to track illegal gun sales by waiting to see when and where guns known to have been sold illegally showed up at Mexican crime scenes.

Please pause for a moment to think about it.  And possibly participate in a calming exercise. Continue reading A look at the horrific, graphic Univision Fast & Furious excerpt.
