The next ONWARD trailer.

There really is no chance that I will skip ONWARD. Often circumstances intervene, but only because I let them, and I don’t see myself letting circumstances intervene this time. Besides: like KUNG FU HUSTLE, when a movie studio takes the trouble and the time to go inside my head and start recording what’s it like in there I feel kind of obligated to go see the final cut, you know what I mean?

The GALAXY QUEST Honest Trailer / Never Surrender documentary link.

First things first: GALAXY QUEST. If you have not yet watched it, then you are in for a treat. Go buy it or whatever and then watch the Honest Trailer.

Now, if you want to watch NEVER SURRENDER, which is the documentary about Galaxy Quest, you can get it here. Feel free. Really: Christmas is coming up and the referral money’s always nice.

Hrm. They’re releasing the next THE MANDALORIAN episode two days early.

Interesting: “Disney+ has announced that the next episode of The Mandalorian is set to be released early on Wednesday December 18th. The episodes are usually released on Friday, but this next episode will hit Disney+ right before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in theaters.” I hate to admit it, but: I’m much more interested in seeing LITTLE WOMEN next week than I am to see the new Star Wars this week. And I know that I’ll like the new Star Wars, too. I am generally a sucker for them, even now. But I’m not plotting to see it early or anything. We’ll go when we go.

On the other hand: new THE MANDALORIAN episode two days early! That’s awesome. Can’t wait.

Early Reviews of LITTLE WOMEN are promising, but my chainsaw is still at hand.

I grew up on Louisa May Alcott. Not just Little Women, and not just the sequels; I read some of the other ones, too. So it’s good that the reviews are in, they’re uniformly excellent, and they’re — this is very important — not praising the movie for reasons that I’d normally associate with “actually a flaming pile of… ah, never mind.” So that’s all right. It’s fine. Everything’s fine. Nothing bad has to happen.

‘Not necessarily possible:’ the damnable lie about the availability of the original Star Wars cuts.

I’m sorry, but it is. It absolutely is. Maybe J.J. Abrams is only innocently repeating the damned lie that he was told about how we can’t get the original Star Wars cut, but it’s still a damned lie.

According to J.J. Abrams, who you know has some insider knowledge all this recently talked about it in an interview. Abrams says he actually asked about a release of the cuts and was told it was not going to happen.

“I’ve been told that for reasons that I don’t quite understand that that’s not necessarily possible.” The filmmaker adds that the new cuts are “what Geroge Lucas wanted”. While he respects that, he does add, “there’s something about the original theatrical version that…for so many people… was what they loved.”

Tweet of the Day, I Would Pay Money To See This Happen edition.

But mostly, I would laugh and laugh and laugh. And I don’t even mind what Scorsese said! This is America: a man’s got a right to his opinion. Note that I’m not saying ‘to be wrong,’ as I don’t got nothing against Scorsese and thus have no reason to snark.

I really would watch a Scorsese Squirrel Girl, though.
