The ‘KIN’ trailer.

KIN doesn’t… look too bad, actually.

It’s got an interesting, kind of Silver Age SF feel to it: hey, let’s give the hero a super-gun and see what happens! Apparently, what happens is that he starts using it to smack around gang members.  A.E. van Vogt would approve.

This is some pretty spoiler-free commentary on the new Halloween trailer.

Not everybody has been that nice about it, but Movie Web behaved itself. The trailer to the new Halloween movie is not yet available. The trailer, in fact, is being doled out in incredibly small doses so far. But one thing is definitely true, here: it is a sequel to the first Halloween.  And the first movie only.  Everything else has been, heh, ruthlessly hacked off.

Slasher flicks aren’t actually really my thing, but this one tempts me. It doesn’t hurt that Jamie Lee Curtis is one of those people who hit the genetic lottery, either.

What is going on with that actor?

Kevin Feige: Naaaah, no Fantastic Four in the MCU any time soon. Nope. Unh-uhh.

Not a chance of it happening.  Swamp gas reflecting off of Venus.  Fer sure. Kevin Feige is absolutely saying that:

“No, because any of that deal would take a while to get going and years from whenever and if ever it happens. So, certainly it won’t impact the five movies we’ve announced, and it probably wouldn’t impact anything for a handful of years after that. Because really, we’re not thinking about that. We’re thinking of delivering on what we promised. Any movie, especially for any characters we don’t have the rights to yet until someone tells us we do, would be even further after that.”

Just like Avi Arad was pooh-poohing any thought of Spider-Man playing second fiddle in the MCU: Continue reading Kevin Feige: Naaaah, no Fantastic Four in the MCU any time soon. Nope. Unh-uhh.

And so begins Infinity War spoilers watch.

Movie’s premiering tonight, embargo drops tomorrow(?), I’m seeing it Friday, and after that spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War will no longer be my active problem. I ain’t going to spoil it, myself, although since it’s a two-parter I assume that people are going to be really pumped up about figuring out How It All Ends.  Entertainingly, I’m actually more excited about Deadpool 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp — and the Aquaman movie, because I heard that the film tested really well with the live audiences.

So no spoilers here for at least the first two weeks. After that, missing the movie is probably more of a life choice for people anyway.

PS: I’m probably going to go see Solo, sure.  I don’t think that I can avoid it.  Maybe it won’t suck.

Is the graphic novel version of The Death of Stalin any good?

The movie’s probably going to be a Movie of the Week when it finally comes out on DVD — The Death of Stalin is eminently suitable for the honor — but if the graphic novel version of “The Death of Stalin” is stupid then I don’t want to spend money on it.  Of course, usually if the movie’s good then the thing that it was based on is at least not wretched, but that’s not a completely reliable rule.  Anybody out there read the comics?

Week to go on Avengers: Infinity War.

Grabbed my ticket for a Friday morning showing, because, well, I can.  It’s being said right now that Avengers: Infinity War is selling out theaters like gangbusters, but I still got a nice seat.  And just in that sweet spot between the kids going to school and me having to pick up the kids from school.  This should work out rather nicely and I won’t have to sneak out during my son’s birthday weekend. Which I probably wouldn’t have bone, anyway, but this way there’s no scheduling conflict. Continue reading Week to go on Avengers: Infinity War.

They’re making a The Division movie!

I can’t wait to see how it will suck! “Deadpool 2 and John Wick director David Leitch has been lining up the film projects! It was just announced that he would be directing the Fast and Furious spinoff film with Hobbs and Shaw. Now it has been announced that he will direct the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft’s hit video game The Division!” I mean, don’t get me wrong: ‘John Wick director’ is a pretty potent talisman against despair when it comes to movies based on video games.  But movies based on video games pretty much come out of the box awful. It’s gonna take a lot to overcome that hurdle.

PS: Entertainingly, I am thinking of playing The Division again; I have heard that the updates to the game have fixed a lot of the problems that eventually caused me to lose interest in it.  But while it held my interest I was absolutely engrossed by it.  So maybe I’ll be even more upset with this movie, when it comes out.

The last, but certainly not least, Deadpool 2 trailer.

You know, they just might pull Deadpool 2 off.

It looks like it just works. I mean, I’ll know when I actually see the movie. And I am absolutely going to go see this movie when it comes out in May.  Deadpool 2 is on my must-not-miss list.

PS: There are so many Easter Eggs in this trailer, by the way.
