…they still have the Ogre Mk. III-B. This is a slightly upgraded version of the ‘standard’ Mk. III used for the basic OGRE scenario; and while it pretty specifically can’t be part of my Ogrethulhu vs. Vatican Guard project it’s still, you know, an Ogre. I just need a good color scheme for it…
I opened up my latest batch – another thank you for the people who hit the tip jar, thus allowing me to pick up these things – to prep them for primer and I find… this.
Good thing it’s probably not contagious, huh? Damned if I know what caused this, though. For all I know, metal minis rot if they’re seventeen years old (which is I think how old these suckers are).

PS: My wife – who is both an engineer and a minis painter herself (yes, I know, I am very lucky) neither gave an opinion on the subject, nor grabbed the children and ran from the house screaming at the sight. So I’m assuming ‘weird, but harmless.’
PPS: Heavy weapons tripods for battlesuit troops, in case you were wondering.
Putting together a Vatican Guard versus Ogrethulhu match-up, and I’ve just primered my Popemobile Fencer, so it’s time to order another set. Go with the Luftpanzer Company, because, well, GEVs? Or go with Battlesuit Battalions, because, well, armored priests in battlesuits?
Tough call.

Before we go any further: remember, if you find this behavior to be pathetically yet hilariously geeky, entertainingly sad, and/or usefully time-wasting of me, you can encourage my folly via hitting the tip jar.
Now. Onto the photos!

As all men know, thanks to the benevolent consideration shown me by my most excellent readers I was able to participate in Steve Jackson Games‘ OGRE Kickstarter to the point where I scored the game and a bunch of stuff besides. But with great wargames come great responsibility: since I asked for the game, and I was given it, I had darn well better play it. Properly. With all the respect that the allocation of large sums of money for a wargame deserves.
In this case: that means minis. Both the acquisition, and the proper assembly thereof. Continue reading Ogrethulhu Rising (Plus, new pledge drive).
…real quick, for people more experienced in minis: what should NOT be discussed? What are the agree-to-disagree-or-fear-our-wrath topics?B ecause you know that guy, who starts a three-day flamewar via an innocent question? Yeah, I don’t want to be that guy.
:pause:
…What? It’s different when it’s not politics. I’m not a monster.

…I’m finding it surprisingly hard to find a source for Mark III and V minis. I mean, yes, they’re out of stock. So I’m not going to find find them hither and yon and at stock price. But I ain’t seeing them, period.
Weird.

PS: I’ll have what I need for the game, mind you. Got a basic command post/defenders setup for one side and will have an Ogrethulhu for the other, if nothing else. Actually, I’ll end up with two of those. But the lead, man. The lead calls to you…
…It’s funny, really: I never did the whole miniatures-painting thing when I was younger (my wife did, though*). But as it turns out that I have a bunch of unpainted OGRE minis, and since I’m going to have Fifteen Pounds of OGRE later in the year, it behooves me to start painting this stuff up now.
So, what’s a good online resource for that sort of thing?
