‘If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews, then I will not stand with you.’ – Ted Cruz.

It would have been the easiest thing in the world for Senator Ted Cruz (R, Texas) to ignore the fact that the “In Defense of Christians” summit dinner that he was speaking tonight at had far too many people involved with it who, as the Washington Free Beacon notes, “includes some of the Assad regime’s most vocal Christian supporters, as well as religious leaders allied with the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah.” But he did not. Instead, he told those folks the truth:

Those who hate Israel hate America,” he continued, as the boos and calls for him to leave the stage got louder. “Those who hate Jews hate Christians. If those in this room will not recognize that, then my heart weeps. If you hate the Jewish people you are not reflecting the teachings of Christ. And the very same people who persecute and murder Christians right now, who crucify Christians, who behead children, are the very same people who target Jews for their faith, for the same reason.”

“If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews,” he said. “Then I will not stand with you. Good night, and God bless.” And with that, he walked off the stage.

Quote of the Day, *We’ve* Been Saying This For Years edition.

Now we have Senators saying this.  Folks, I give you Senator Ted Cruz:

You cannot win a battle against radical Islamic terrorism if you’re unwilling to utter the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’

Likewise, you cannot hope to fight it out in the court of public opinion if you have nobody who is there to state yours. Anybody here think that former Senator Hutchinson – and I don’t particularly wish to pile on her over this – would have made the case as well? Or possibly even at all?

Elections have consequences.

Barack Obama (who campaigned against signing statements) issues signing statement. Again.

Of course Barack Obama did.

President Obama on Friday signed into law a bill authored by Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz that would bar an Iranian diplomat from entering the United States, but immediately issued a statement saying he won’t enforce it.

Obama decided to treat the law as mere advice.

Like he does.  :sigh: Some people simply cannot accept it that there can be other people out there who can and will tell them what to do. Yes, I’m sure that the USA would be more fun for the President if he was actually its king. But we’re not a monarchy, and President Obama isn’t a monarch. He should learn to accept that.

At the very least, he should apologize for being so rude about signing statements when he was a Senator.  Harder than it looks once you’re in charge, eh, Barry?

“Yes, We Can.” …Hmm. Catchy. #tedcruz

This video (from RedState’s own Ben Howe) has been going around: it features some of Ted Cruz’s comments from CPAC. I recommend that you watch it, if you haven’t already. I’d comment further, except that RedState’s own Caleb Howe* pretty much summed it up and I was having difficulty expressing my thoughts on the clip anyway, for some reason.

Tweet of the Day, @Tedcruz For The Win edition.

See, this is how you handle a situation where somebody’s Photoshopped your head on a tattooed street punk[*] and distributed the posters all over LA. By correcting the record:

But I gotta agree with Chris Moody, here.

That would be totally boss, if people still say that and maybe even if they don’t.

*For the record, ‘tattooed street punk’ is not meant as a pejorative in this context. I got nothing against tattoos, although I’ve never felt the desire to get inked.

Quote of the Day, …I Do Not Think That This Is Helping edition.

Look, I understand that you have to work with what you’re given.  But if you think that this is a good counter-argument to Ted Cruz (accurately!) pointing out that pro-abortion protesters were chanting “Hail, Satan”…

Lucien Greaves, communications director of the Satanic Temple, says Cruz’s comments oversimplify the issue by trying to inject religion into the abortion debate. Although pro-abortion-rights protesters did indeed chant “Hail Satan” at a rally outside the Texas Capitol, it was to combat antiabortion protesters who were singing “Amazing Grace.”

…Well.

Yeah.

Allrighty, then. Continue reading Quote of the Day, …I Do Not Think That This Is Helping edition.

Shocker: Texas approves of PitA Senator elected on promise to be a PitA.

God, but I love the New York Times and its stubborn regional parochialism.

Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas and the face of the angry right, has been criticized, lambasted and lampooned for putting the nation through a 16-day government shutdown and the prospect of a financial default.

Your moment of “Aww.”

I missed this, somehow. Hot Air did not.

There’s something almost endearing at the way that things like this seem to invariably infuriate the Activist Left. I am left with the feeling that this gets some of them right in the daddy issues…
