Venom to get PG-13 rating.

Okaayyy… “The upcoming Spider-Man spinoff Venom has landed a PG-13 rating, according to the MPAA. …Director Ruben Fleischer was eager to push the limits of what he could do with the comic book property, and it seems that this new rating means he was able to do so.”  Is the male teenager demographic really that important to this movie’s success?

:pause:

Right. Strike that. The question looked stupid even when I typed it out.  Still, this is a movie about a barely-anti-hero that goes around and, at various points in the comics, eats bad people.  Certainly the trailers imply that.  But at the same time, they kind of also suggest that nobody really gets eaten.  It is, as they say, a puzzler.

Can’t *quite* believe that Spider-Man will be in the Venom flick.

I mean, I understand the tactical surprise, here.  Having Spider-Man show up in Venom would be a lot like having That Thing That Happened In That Movie recently.  I just don’t know how they’d keep it a secret for this long, is all.  Or even if they’d want to.  When they got Spidey for Civil War, Marvel made really, really sure that you knew about it ahead of time.

Also, there’s That Thing That Happened In That Other Movietoo.  I mean, yes, obviously things will be resolved there. But trying to put Venom in the middle of the MCU’s continuity is going to be… interesting.

What is going on with that actor?

The most interesting cinematic conspiracy theory I’ve seen today (Spider-man/Life/Venom).

OK, so basically Sony is going to make a Venom movie.   …OK.  You know something?  That’s fine. That could be watchable. Lord knows Sony is probably smarting at the way that it had to kiss up to Marvel to get Spider-Man to appear in the MCU; they want to make some money of their own, they’ve got the rights to Venom, it might not suck.  And, hey, it can back into the MCU the way that Deadpool kind of pretended to do with the Helicarrier and everything. So… all right.  Good luck with that, Sony. I mean it. Continue reading The most interesting cinematic conspiracy theory I’ve seen today (Spider-man/Life/Venom).
