Gov. Tom Wolf’s (D, Pennsylvania) Supreme Court pick’s racially insensitive email.

Basically, Tom Wolf just can’t catch a break.  Unless he caught it on his chin, maybe:

One of Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s nominees for the state Supreme Court from Central Pennsylvania may have forwarded a racially insensitive email to 22 people.

The 2013 Christmas greeting card depicts a black man in an orange jumpsuit, sitting behind a glass prison partition, talking on the phone with a black woman outside the glass. “Merry Christmas from the Johnsons,” the card says.

Thomas K. Kistler, the president judge of Centre County Common Pleas Court, could not be reached.

Go figure. Does the man regret running for Governor, at this point? – Because he’s apparently one of God’s Six Fish right now.

This has been typed on the new computer.

Which is using my wife’s old monitor, because for some unaccountable reason my current monitor won’t work on this one. No matter: if that’s the worst problem I have I’m not going to have any real problems with the switchover. But I am right now DOWNLOADING ALL THE THINGS, so I’ll catch up with the rest of you later.

In the (e-)Mail: ‘Superego.’

Written by IMAO’s own Frank Fleming, Superego is a science fiction thriller of the far future! …Or so it seems; I haven’t read it yet. I’m also appalled that Frank didn’t think to lay a review copy on me, or even hit me up for an interview (note: I am not actually appalled, or even miffed).  I mean, I do do geekstuff here.

Anyway, I’ll let you know how the book goes.

The Activist Left’s Poor and Paltry Rhetorical Toolbox, ISIS edition.

This exchange really does say a lot:

…not least because it illustrates the primary problem with moral relativism: that is, that moral relativism does not have a goram clue about how to handle capital-E Evil. Oh, Good it can deal with all the time, mostly by ignoring/liberal-explaining it away; but pretending that Evil does not in fact exist does nothing from keeping Evil from doing, well, evil. Rationalizing this problem away can lead to some rather startling mental contortions. Continue reading The Activist Left’s Poor and Paltry Rhetorical Toolbox, ISIS edition.

Desperate times call for desperate magic.

I have just instructed iTunes to add to its library all of the music that I have been piling up in anticipation of the computer switch. I will then instruct iTunes to sync with my iPod. It’s the only way to force UPS to deliver my new computer in the next couple of hours*…

It’s the only way.

*Because then I’m just going to have to sync it all up again with the hard drive backup anyway.

Beleaguered PA AG Kathleen Kane (D) fighting indictment charges.

Drip… drip… drip:

The investigation into alleged leaks of confidential information by Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane was conducted legally and should be allowed to proceed, the judge who oversaw the case argued in legal papers Wednesday.

“The truth is crying to be heard,” Montgomery County Court Judge William R. Carpenter wrote of the case against Kane.

Carpenter’s filing comes as Kane is asking the state Supreme Court to throw out criminal charges that a statewide grand jury recommended against her late last year. Kane is contending that Carpenter overstepped his authority last summer when he named a special prosecutor to investigate her office for the alleged leak.

Wait. What is Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D, Wisconsin) so worried about?

Yeah. Calling in the high-powered lawyer isn’t a sign of anything wrong.  Nope, not at all.

U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin is finally speaking out about her decision to fire a staffer over the problems at the troubled Tomah VA Medical Center.

Or at least her nationally renowned Democratic attorney [Marc Elias] has issued a statement defending the move last month to oust Marquette Baylor, ex-deputy state director for Baldwin and chief of her Milwaukee office.

[snip]

Baldwin’s office sat for months on an inspection report that found officials at the Tomah medical center were prescribing high amounts of opiate pain pills to patients. She began calling for a federal investigation only after news reports ran in January showing that as many as three vets died after receiving treatment at Tomah.
