Tweet of the Day, The Next Stage Of The MCU Is Gonna Be LIT edition.

Joe, I feel, gets right to the freaking point of the matter:

X-Men, too. And, hot damn! Deadpool. Assuming that the talks don’t fall through, of course. But if they don’t… oh, wow, watching the Mouse try to get a handle on the Merc with the Mouth would be epic. EPIC. They’d fall over themselves trying to thread that particular needle.

Director who directed “The Book of Henry” no longer directing “Star Wars IX.”

Sorry.  I thought that I should provide some possible context…

Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.

…since the above statement declines to give any whatsoever. As has been noted on Twitter, Disney has tossed three directors on two Star Wars films this year; clearly, the Mouse is King Stork, not King Log. Did Trevorrow’s critical and (almost certainly) financial flop have anything to do with that?  I dunno; it depends on your opinion of Disney.  I think that it’s at least reasonable to assume that The Book of Henry at least destroyed whatever margin for error the director would have had. Disney is unlikely to take any chances, as this corporate training video from the 1970s will demonstrate: Continue reading Director who directed “The Book of Henry” no longer directing “Star Wars IX.”

Disney partially pulling out of Netflix to start own streaming service.

I’m not sure how this will play out.

Disney on Tuesday said it will be pulling its movies from Netflix and will launch a Disney streaming service of its own in 2019. It also said it will launch an ESPN streaming service early next year.

To help do all that, Disney will acquire a majority of BAMTech, the streaming technology company owned by MLBAM, the internet company owned by Major League Baseball. Disney already owned a stake in BAMTech but will pay $1.58 billion for an additional 42 percent.

So, Big Hero 6 is coming to Disney XD.

I tentatively have hope for this Disney series.  Big Hero 6 was an excellent cyber-prep flick and I’m a sucker for Better Super-Heroing Through Applied Chemistry.  A television series might serve to get my kids more enthusiastic about science and technology and so forth — OK, OK, I want to watch it on my own.  Sue me. …And they were never heard from again.

Don’t tell me that the Mouse doesn’t have wetwork squads.  Seriously, don’t tell me. I don’t want to be involved.  I’ve already attracted too much attention by linking to this article:

Disney’s upcoming Johnny Depp film Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has been pilfered by ransom hackers seeking payment from the studio. The hackers have demanded an enormous amount of money be paid to Bitcoin. Disney is currently working with the FBI and will not pay.

Seriously, if you never hear anything about this story in the future, well, look at the title.  Maybe said title ended up being pretty freaking ironic there, don’t you think? Or perhaps ‘prophetic…’ no, really, I don’t want to be involved.
