Crist campaign forced to give back illegal campaign contributions.

And here I thought Charlie Crist was a fundraising machine: “Republicans filed a complaint against Team Crist for “repeated” finance violations. After the complaint was filed, Crist & Co. refunded thousands of dollars to donors who exceeded the legal limit of $3,000.”

…Oops?

PS: Rick Scott for Governor.

PPSD: I know, I know: this deserves more attention. I am still not feeling well, sorry.

Rick Scott still leading over Charlie Crist in Florida-GOV.

Title says it all, really.  And I am not ashamed to admit that this response from Javier Manjarres made me laugh:

This is what happens when you have me, your lovable little fuzzball of a conservative reporter, booted from political events. Read more here and here.

Well, maybe not.

Javier should just claim it anyway.  Why not?

Via… I’m not sure. The person who I thought it was, doesn’t seem to have been the person who sent the link around. Weird.

12 year old Florida kid runs lemonade stand; municipal officials… *don’t* shut it down.

Huh. That’s new.

So, there’s a 12 year old kid in Dunedin, Florida with a lemonade/baked goods neighborhood stand… you know where this is going, right? Of course you do.  This isn’t the first story of this type that you’d be hearing.  Suffice it to say… look, this guy?  Don’t be this guy.

In a scenario reminiscent of the relationship between fictional characters Dennis the Menace and Mr. Wilson, an older neighbor became increasingly upset with the placement of T.J.’s lemonade stand near his house and tried to force the city government to shut down the boy’s business.

Doug Wilkey, a 61 year-old resident of this Florida neighborhood, emailed City Hall at least four times in two years and requested the police to intervene.

Because he’s also apparently an idiot*. Continue reading 12 year old Florida kid runs lemonade stand; municipal officials… *don’t* shut it down.

Bad call by the Florida Democratic party with regard to The Shark Tank, here.

On the one hand, I understand why they tossed The Shark Tank out of a campaign event on general principles: Javier Manjarres is a born troublemaker*. On the other hand, the Florida Democratic party then had to deal with flak from local news people, given that Javier is in fact local media.  On the gripping hand? …Well, Florida Democrats did nominate Charlie Crist, so their judgement wasn’t really all that great in the first place.

Seriously, how bad is it for Florida Democrats right now if they don’t dare have an open media policy?

*I do a little of that myself, hopefully.

Gwen Graham’s (D-CAND, Florida-02) two-faced position on #Obamacare.

Ain’t that just like a politician?

The question is not whether Gwen Graham lies. She does. The question is, when did she lie?

  • Did Gwen Graham lie when told the voters in Florida’s Second Congressional District that she thinks that Obamacare needed to be ‘changed‘ so that it works?  – Don’t worry. Safe link.
  • Or did Gwen Graham lie when she agreed with campaign workers that Obamacare was a good thing and that it was becoming less of an issue?

– Because those are actually contradictory statements. If Gwen Graham thinks that Obamacare needs to be changed – and by that we all know that people mean ‘fixed’ – then she should be telling that hard truth to her own supporters, because her own supporters deserve to know what is actually going on.  But if Gwen Graham actually thinks that Obamacare is just jim-dandy and doesn’t need more than mild tweaking, then she shouldn’t cut official campaign ads that make it sound like she’s going to do anything in Congress besides, ah, ‘rubber-stamp the President and the Affordable Care Act and be Nancy Pelosi’s puppet.’

To quote one of the guys who Gwen Graham might be lying to: Continue reading Gwen Graham’s (D-CAND, Florida-02) two-faced position on #Obamacare.

So. It is time for the gutter war in Florida-GOV.

It sounds like Rick Wilson is not… exactly looking forward to the Florida gubernatorial election. More like he’s serenely aware that destroying Charlie Crist’s political career is doing the Lord’s work:

Tonight as the sun sets in Pensacola, Charlie Crist will be the Democratic nominee for Governor of Florida. Yes, there’s a kind of pro-forma primary going on between Charlie and the hapless State Senator Nan Rich, a grating South Florida liberal of the Bella Abzug stripe, but everyone knows it isn’t serious. Crist has been the de facto nominee for over a year, plodding along in his faux-shucks way.

In essence, it isn’t about Crist the candidate. It’s about the Democratic Party. It’s a window into the deep, desperate soul of a state party looking for a foothold back into power. They know Crist is lying to them, and they love it. They know he’s playing them for patsies, and they’re lined up around the block to kiss his manorexic backside.

You’ve never seen such abject fawning for a man they know is a pathological liar and weapons-grade weirdo.

2006 Charlie Crist viciously attacks 2014 Charlie Crist in new attack ad!

This was, of course, inevitable.

Democrats across Florida heard a mysterious recorded call over the weekend that seemed aimed at attacking likely Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist.

The voice in the recording? Charlie Crist.

“Hi, this is Charlie Crist calling to set the record straight. I’m pro-life. I oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants, I support traditional marriage, and I have never supported a new tax or big spending program. It’s sad that in his fourth try for governor my opponent has resorted to distortions and untruths. … Floridians need a consistent, conservative governor that they can trust. I would appreciate your vote on Election Day.”

New anti-Crist ad: ‘Not a Penny.’

(Via @tsgop) This is a nice hit: I was previously unaware that Charlie Crist, the Democratic (this week, at least) candidate for Florida-GOV, has never paid property taxes.

Mind you, I did already know that Charlie Crist was capable of lying about Rick Scott raising property taxes (even the liberal Politifact couldn’t get higher than ‘Mostly False‘ about that one).  I just hadn’t realized that Crist had never actually owned property in Florida on his own hook.  The only thing that I find more amazing than the fact that Crist seems to think that he can completely reinvent himself from being an opportunistic and somewhat shaky Republican into a fairly doctrinaire and uninspiring Democrat is that the Florida Democratic party is so intellectually and morally parched that they have no other choice but to let him.

I really do think that Rick Scott’s going to pull this one out of the dive.  Can’t say that about every race, maybe, but I like our chances with this one.

The surprisingly unsurprising Florida-19 race.

And it truly is at least a little surprising:

Republican Curt Clawson cruised to an easy victory in Florida’s 19th Congressional District on Tuesday in a special election to replace former Rep. Trey Radel, who resigned his seat in January after he was convicted of cocaine possession.

With all precincts reporting, Clawson had earned 67 percent of the vote. Democrat April Freeman had 29.3 percent to finish second, while Libertarian Ray Netherwood finished a distant third with 3.7 percent.

You would expect that an R+11 district would be favored to put a Republican in office, but there’s that entire ‘convicted of cocaine possession’ with regard to the previous officeholder.  I remember that, back in 2006 and 2008, such a revelation would end up being slopped all over not only the disgraced politicians, but all of the politician’s partisan colleagues (and the party as a whole) as well. I guess it really isn’t going to be 2006 or 2008 this election cycle, after all.

At least, not for us.

@_FloridaMan versus Judge Throw-Down!

This Florida Man tweet does not oversell.

…it truly does not. You can’t see it – it happened behind closed doors – but you can hear it.

That Twitter account is almost a national goram resource.
