…via email, let me know, OK? I think I didn’t click a button until just now, so they didn’t distribute – but I think I fixed what was wrong. Hopefully everybody will get the short story sampler now.

The FROZEN DREAMS Pre-Order store closes Saturday.
It’s time, I think. Things are progressing to the point where the pre-order store will start interfering with my calculations, so… forty-eight hours, folks. After that, you can always get FROZEN DREAMS on Amazon.
BEHOLD! FROZEN DREAMS has arrived!
Not seen: the other three, much larger, and much heavier boxes full of FROZEN DREAMS now living under the dining room table.
Those are scheduled to go out next week, for several different reasons, starting with the holiday and ending with that’s when the packing material all shows up anyway. I’m going to be closing up the pre-order store this weekend, too. That’ll probably get its own post.
07/01/2020 Report, FROZEN DREAMS Kickstarter.
Today was not one of the glamorous days for FROZEN DREAMS, per se.
- The most important thing was that I got the short story sampler out to Kickstarter backers. Six stories, one of them previously unpublished on Patreon or anywhere else; they’ll be in the full compilation, too. These have been edited, but not professionally, and the sampler will not be commercially available. You can still get it via the pre-order store, but the store will probably be closing after the audiobook becomes available.
- The paperback books are on their way! They should get here tomorrow, and I’ve straightened out my problems with Backerkit Postage, so I should be able to process them… starting next week. I’ve ordered shipping supplies, and the postage itself can wait until I’ve gotten a good weight for the packages.
- Finally, I sat down and assigned tentative page numbers for the various sections of the worldbook. I’m tentatively thinking 48 pages for it; I go round and round whether that should be 48 total, or 48 besides the rules. If the latter, then the book goes up to 64 pages, and I have to write considerably more. I may have to tap some old RPG support networks for this one.
A productive day, in other words, but not exactly exciting. Well, they can’t all be a thrill ride, right?
FERMI RESOLUTION Short story sampler away!
(Crossposted to Kickstarter)
If you’re a backer for FROZEN DREAMS, you should be getting an email with a link to the short story sampler at any moment. It’s in .mobi, .epub, and .pdf form. A few things to note:
- This sampler has been edited, but not professionally. It will be, when the stories become part of the larger short story collection that I’ll be doing after this project is over. I’ve done a few pass-throughs and had people beta-read it, but think of this as an advanced reader copy. Typos and whatnot may be present, and there may be changes later.
- It’s thus not commercially available. This is the only place you’re going to be able to read the original short story until I do the full collection (which will have at least one more original story in it).
- If there are any issues, let me know!
And that’s mostly it. Next up: the books! They’re supposed to arrive any day now.

Just saying.
06/28/2020 Report, FROZEN DREAMS Kickstarter.
The big news is that I finally did the first pass-through of all the stories in the short story sampler. I will now proceed to ignore it until Tuesday, then go through them all again to catch all the typos and whatnot that will bred between now and then. Because the typos do breed. I am certain of it… right.

It’s a really interesting question; and, as you might imagine, one that’s of some interest to me. Depending on who you ask, so far FROZEN DREAMS has either broken through the average number of sales for a new book, or is rapidly approaching it, or the entire conversation is ridiculous because the Kickstarter skewed everything. The number ‘250’ gets bandied about a lot, you see; only I’ve seen people confidently say that should be e-book sales, and others say that only print copies count, and still more say that the true number for print copies should be about 100, and then people start suggesting it should be about how much money you’re making per year.

Today, I sat down and worked on revising the stories for the sampler. Structural edits, and so forth: I’ve done the deed on two out of six of them, and plan to have the others done by Sunday. After that, I will create the actual sampler and distribute it to backers. As I’ve said elsewhere: I don’t know if I should charge people on Amazon for these, at least at the sampler level. They’re going to get released without paid copy-editing or proper cover (the full short story collection will be released with both, but that’s a money issue), and that does make a difference.
Oh, well, that’s still a couple steps down the road.
I am HAPPY to be interviewed about FROZEN DREAMS!
If you have a podcast, website, radio program, or whatnot: I would very much enjoy coming on and talking about my new book FROZEN DREAMS. I’ve got plenty of free time, and with enough advance notice I can pretty much do any specific time slot. Contact me here if you’re interested.
